Inevitable console upgrade...what do I choose?
So I'm currently an xbox 360 player. I know that one day, probably nearer to Christmas time, I will be upgrading to a next gen console. I've had my heart set on the PS4 for some time but now, due to Destiny, I've had my head turned towards the Xbone only because of the ability to transfer my Destiny account from 360 to Xbone.
I know the first DLC in December will be for all consoles but after that I'm pretty sure they'll only be available for next gen.
So here's my question. Do I opt for the Xbone for the ability to transfer or do I go for the PS4 and start all over again but enjoy the bonus of timed exclusives?

I like the Xbox exclusives and I actually really enjoy the UI although I can understand why some find it confusing. It's where my friends are at. They both run 1080p blah blah blah. People talk specs all day but in the end it's what games YOU think are more fun and where your friends will be. I also believe most people know what console they want before they "choose" one.

Just get the console you really want and you'll be happy. Don't purchase one solely for the purpose of benefiting you for Destiny, just pick the one you'll have the most fun on. Which exclusives do you care most about? What console will your friends be playing on? Which services do you see more value in? As someone who owns both systems I can tell you that they're not that different. Personally I prefer my XB1, but that's a given since I was a 360 player last gen. Do the proper research on both consoles, and then choose based on what you know. Don't make a decision based off of the opinions of people on a thread, make an educated decision based on what you want as a gamer. Really tho, don't pick a console only for the sake of Destiny. There are tons of other games that should influence your choice xD

Ps4 would be the better choice for the long term, but the advantage that ps4 has over the xbone is so little that it probably wouldn't make up for being able to transfer your character. If you have friends on live, just stick with Xbox. This is coming from a Sony owner.

8 RepliesPlaystation is going to have exclusive content off the bat and it looks better than xbox one ( although I can tell much of a difference) then again I don't own a ps4 so I can't really bash xbox and say ps4 is completely better.

I prefer PS4, but I think you'd be crazy to start over in regards to switching from a 360. PS 4 isn't that much better then x1...no console is.

I had an XBOne and it was OK nothing to remarkable but on The 9th I'm getting the destiny PS4 bundle because even though I've spent 4 yrs with XB360 and like months with the XBOne their is just a better list of games on the PS4 and also I have more friends with a PS4 then I do an XBOne....I've made awesome friends on XBL, but for me the PS4 is the way to go!!!! Stick to xbox I say, the exclusives won't last and you'll basically be starting over with a profile. Don't listen to the fanboys.

Go where ever your friends are is always the best choice, but also look at exclusive content for consoles(halo, infamous, killzone, cod/destiny dlc early access) and the controller presence is how I chose my xbox 1

Im in the same position as you right now and i am planning to go with the XBox One. my character will carry over along with my friends list. And after looking at the list of exclusive titles for each console i didnt prefer one over the other. most if not all of the games that im going to want to play (Shadows of Mordor, Kingdom Hearts 3, Battle Front 3, and many more) are going to be on both consoles. Also the exclusive PS4 content for destiny hasn't Really impressed me at all so that doesn't factor into my decision.

It may not seem like a huge deal but trust me choose the one with the controller that fits you best. I love the PS4 controller even more so than the 360's, Xbox ones is good too but just didn't sit quite right.

If you have a substantial amount of time left on it then that's one less purchase required. What console are your gaming friends going to be playing on? Starting over with a new character and having to grind can be annoying. While everyone around you is rocking some epic legendary gear. Then again it's the Holidays and you'll probably be in good company with new guardians populating the world of Destiny. What exclusives are you looking forward to in gaming? You'll be missing out on Halo, Sunset Overdrive and a future Gears of War. You'll be gaining The Last of Us, Uncharted and Killzone. My personal opinion is that you're already going to invest into a character and you'll have to start over. I'd go with the Xbone.

1 ReplyHonestly you'd be better off transferring your data across to xbone, and thats coming from a PS4 player. If it doesn't matter to you about starting all over, then without a doubt get a PS4. Not looking for a console fight (because I know how some guys like to bitch about their console), but PS4 overall is a better system to get. Theres gonna be better games in the future for it and it also is just overall a better console than the XBone. But yeah, if you really care about transferring your progress, then get XBone, because XBone, isn't a bad console either, I just find the PS4 to be better.

Honestly the difference is not as bad its made out to be. Best thing you can do is go with the controller that feels best to you. The PlayStation controller does not feel natural to me at all so I went with Xbox One. Hardly ever used my PS3 due to controller.
