Inevitable console upgrade...what do I choose?

XBone

897

PS4

1177

So I'm currently an xbox 360 player. I know that one day, probably nearer to Christmas time, I will be upgrading to a next gen console. I've had my heart set on the PS4 for some time but now, due to Destiny, I've had my head turned towards the Xbone only because of the ability to transfer my Destiny account from 360 to Xbone. I know the first DLC in December will be for all consoles but after that I'm pretty sure they'll only be available for next gen. So here's my question. Do I opt for the Xbone for the ability to transfer or do I go for the PS4 and start all over again but enjoy the bonus of timed exclusives?

  • Honestly if you have no friends on xbox one, go ps4. It's just all around better to play destiny on. This is coming from an xbox one user.

  • It doesn't matter if you transfer your Destiny account from Xbox 360 to Xbox one because everyone is gonna start fresh, nothing from the 360 version is gonna transfer over before launch. But if you are purchasing next gen after launch then yea you can transfer your 360 to Xbox one. But honestly in your position i would get the ps4 regardless just because it will be the best place to play Destiny.

  • As a former Xbox360 owner I have to say that the PS4 feels and proves to be the better console. While I can say that in most games that come out on both system native resolution output the PS4 is able to render the game output at 1080p. Some games, neither system can output to the native 1080p, but by comparison the PS4 can do 900p while the Xbox One outputs at lower resolution. There are numerous game by game comparisons done by the Eurogamer’s Digital Foundry team. They go into the all the technical jargon to explain the faults in each system when playing a particular game. However, the end results often show that the PS4 is the console to go with if you're going to play any title that is being supported by both systems. Here are some links you can read up on before you make your purchase: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-assassins-creed-4-next-gen-face-off

Wait for them to get more games, pick based on which one has more games you want to play. For me it's about 10 to 2 in favor of xb1 games that look interesting compared to ps4 games that look interesting, but I'm not getting either for a while so it might change if playstation steps up their game.

Go to where your friends will be playing, I use to be on 360 and many of my friends were on there as well, most of us switched to ps3, now almost all my old 360 friends switched to ps4, it's me whose playing catch up

  • Don't buy a console for 1 game. The ps4 exclusives are times and honestly (in my opinion) not that cool. Remember too that xbone has more intertainment value with all the neat features. Ps4 however has slightly better hardware. To me it all came down to the games that are completely exclusive to a console. Forza, sunset overdrive, halo, gears of war, ect. V.S. The last of us, uncharted,no mans sky, ect

  • Play what your friends are on. Go ask Groot what he's playing on man. O wait all he says is "I am Groot." .-.

  • Your toons will transfer from 360 to Xbone in regards to Destiny. I am in a similar conundrum. I will probably go Xbone because the PS4 controller doesn't feel great to me.

  • The timed exclusives are minimal imo compared to time you may put in on the 360 that you will lose. Plus depending on your upgrade window you will lose that access time while you game on the 360. Plus if you already have XBL friends perhaps a few will port with you. In the end it is all about preference not to mention looking at a bigger picture than Destiny such as exclusive you may have interest in or what not.

  • If you're already used to the Xbox 360 controller go with that because it'll be easier to adapt to the Xbox One controller than the PS4 controller. If you're a fan of Halo, get the Xbox One. It also depends on what console your friends are on. People claim that the PS4 is so much better, but in terms of video quality they look basically identical. They're the same price now so there's no advantage there. I don't know, I'm biased towards Xbox to be honest.

    • I'm on PS, but if exclusives don't really matter to you I'd just stay with Xbox. You'll be 3 months into your characters. That's allot of logged hours down the drain. I've got a feeling that exclusive armor and weapons will be somewhat generic, like the vanguard weapons that we get for pre order, nice but meh.

    • Of course every ps player in the forums will come to this pole. I think most of us xbone players just dont give a hoot anymore. Personally you should go with the xbox. I got my kinect for free but i freakin love it. And the controller is way better. Feels very cheaply made however. Very flimsy. But i enjoy it when my internet isnt being a little bitch

      • don't buy a console for only a couple games. the only real answer is to go where your friends go. if you have no friends then IMO you should get a PS4. Its the bigger of the two this generation.

      • I love my ps4 but in your situation I would suggest getting the Xbox one. That way you can transfer your progress and also get in on halo mcc and halo 5 beta.

      • The times exclusives will get old pretty fast. If you already have lots of time invested in your character you should get the X1 and continue with that. But it also depends on what your friends have...

You don't, don't want to get a Console for a single game...trust me I did it and my PS3 turned into a door stop. Though MGS4 was pretty dope. Further more, if you choose a Console for a single game's single Console exclusive...you're idiot, to be frank. Here's what it comes down for me & Consoles (and was really my defining point between the Ps4 & Xbox) List out all the games you want to play, known & hyped. Which Console has more of them? Additionally, which console do you believe has better service (SERVICE IS HUGE). The last thing you should worry about is stuff like hardware. And for this I return you to you games list...if that hardware wont feature the game you want to play...what good is it? Controllers are a smaller aspect to consider, was for me anyway but I digress. I sided with the Xbox 1 personally, I have a long history with xbox (Good service). And while I gave the PS4 a far shake...the questions I gave you early leaned heavily towards the xbox for me. Additionally I know the Xbox 1 has gone out of its way to buy several exclusive titles over the years...several, not just one or two (again, your list of games is the most important thing). I could care less which one you get...you're one gamer in an ocean of millions so don't think this is fan boy love here...but when buying a car...you don't look at which one gets the shiniest fenders ;)...look at the one that's going to get you what you want AND has the best record (for you, don't listen to the world)

        • You say you're playing on an xbox 360? Get the xbox one. I am playing on the ps4 and I prefer it more than the xbox one but you'd want your character progression to carry over and that can only be done between console generations

        • Why get a console just because one game has timed exclusives? I'm sure there are more games that you want to play eventually. Go with the console that has the better games for you. I'd personally say go with the Xbox One because of being able to transfer over, but do whatever you want. Don't need a bunch of random people telling you what to do.
