Let's all face facts so that we can strengthen our community
1. Exclusivity sucks balls
2. PS4 is slightly better than Xbox one, but barely
3. Sony is slightly better than Microsoft, but has the exact same goal: make profit
4. Xbox live is slightly better than PSN, but barely
5. The exploration areas in Destiny aren't as big as we all hoped, but Bungie still says that this is the biggest game they've ever made, and 500 people have been working on it daily, so we shouldn't jump to conclusions till we experience the real deal for ourselves.
6. Just because you disagree with someone, doesn't mean you should disrespect them. Start a discussion with condescension, and its no longer a discussion. In an argument, both you and the other guy think you're right, and so you should judge the other person with that in mind. If they're being calm and respectful and you're being rude and malicious, then it doesn't matter if you're right or not, you still look like a dick.
7. Trolls are a part of life, learn to recognise them.
8. That person you just tore to shreds on the forum could genuinely be a well-meaning 11 year old. I'm not saying you should censor your opinion, but just remind yourself every now and then that there actually are vulnerable little kids on these forums.
9. People are entitled to their opinion about Destiny. Somebody has had an experience, and you can't change that experience. If someone 'just doesn't like it', then you could write a whole series of books about why you disagree, and it wouldn't change a thing about the experience they had. You can disagree with their reasoning, but you can't change their experience.
10. Nobody's perfect (least of all me), but if we treat people harshly then they'll never change. Studies have shown that an attack on our beliefs, triggers the same response in the brain as a physical attack. We get defensive, even if we are proven wrong, and especially if we've been treated with vitriol or condescension. Give people a chance to admit their wrongs, and don't be so hasty to use insults and inflammatory language. This is what drives people apart in a place that's meant to bring people together.
Be brave, be the change.

4 RepliesVery well said! I always TRY to keep my calm! It's hard with PS Fanboys, or Xbox Fanboys! There is an underlying hate that exists & I can't figure out why!! It's almost impossible to discuss console differences or exclusives without starting a fight! Think about who started console wars! It wasn't the gamers! Or, was it?! I started gaming on Atari 2600 & have owned almost every system since! No one hated the SNES because they were SO dedicated to the Sega Genesis. We all played both just for the games! Most people ended up owning both consoles. Then the Nintendo 64, PS1,Sega Saturn, and Atari Jaguar came out. There was no console hate! We played games on all of them! In 2000 the PS1 hit just after the Sega Dreamcast. 2001 came Xbox. I owned a PS1, Dreamcast, & when Xbox came out there was no hate! I played & owned all three over time. As did all my friends! All those competing consoles, zero wars! The hate only started with the PS3, and Xbox 360! Two systems that were the closest in terms of graphics and games ever! The only difference really were the exclusives. Yet, people became polarized one way or the other! Again, I owned both with no hate for either. I played inFamous, Halo, God of War, Fable, Uncharted, Gears of War, Forza, The Last of us, etc. I can't imagine missing any of them! My gaming experience would be incomplete! I think the console makers have marketed the systems in a way to incite this behavior! The internet was more accessible when the PS3 & Xbox 360 came out. Is it possible both companies hired trolls to start this "war" in the forums & social media?! Think about it! No one ever attacks Nintendo lovers! (Although Nintendo has carved out a niche with children of late) it used to be all about the games! We would play our console, and if a friend had a different one we were excited to try it out!!! What happened?! Somewhere along the way people forgot it was all about the games! The console is only a tool! Who cares who makes it! As long as it plays the game we want to play! With the launch of the PS4 & Xbox One, I have noticed there are more game fans now! People are waking up to realize how foolish console loyalty is! Sony & Microsoft could care less about us as long as they get our money! I honestly think it was both companies putting us against each other while rolling in the profits! We need to "gently" wake up those who are still stuck in console war mode! Tread lightly, as they are fueled with rage! You will state facts, they will reply with hatred! They will completely ignore any facts, even with 100% reliable links for proof! They will reply with emotion filled opinion, never any facts! Maybe if we keep spreading the "true gamer" message, they will slowly wake up! We can once again have a community united under one banner! Instead of divided by the brand of console owned! I can't wait to explore Destiny with my fellow guardians! I will be playing it on the PS4. But, I'm not claiming PS4 superiority. I will be getting an Xbox One. 1080p looks amazing anyway you slice it! So what some titles are scaled back to 900p &720p that run 1080p on PS4?! The difference is so small there's no way it takes away from the fun of the game! After all, that's what we all are after! FUN! Console wars aren't fun! Let's work together to put the final nail in that coffin! That way, we can all proudly fly our GAMER flag proudly! Here's to all my fellow GAMERS! CHEERS! SEE YOU STARSIDE, GUARDIAN!

I own a PS4 because i determined it was the best console for me. You own an XB1 because you determined it was the best choice for you, so who gives a shit. Play games and move on. You people on here flaming all day must not like your new consoles too much if you'd rather troll on the internet, then play the console you claim is so great, regardless of what side your on.

11 RepliesI just want to say that I can agree that the PS4 is the slightly better console between the two but honestly Sony hasn't shown me anything worth while to merit a purchase. In my humble opinion, the PS4 has good games story wise, but the Xbox has good games online wise. Why i choose the Xbox is because my friends have it and i like playing with friends. Also another opinion, the PS4 may have slightly better graphics or may run just a tad bit faster, but that doesn't always mean the game will be 100% better. Any game could look like crap but as long as I'm having fun it really doesn't matter.
