I see what you mean. Having game environments change as they're played is something that not many, (if at all) games have done. It would be great and different if done right. However it was only the alpha and the beta. We only got very small snippets of gameplay. The version coming out on 9/9 is only the beginning. They will take player feedback as well as there own ideas and try to implement into the game. Destiny is in no way finished. keep this going like the Planetary Events one does and you'll get it looked at.

  • True we did only see a small part of the game and the full version will have more content. However the fact that these issues exist in the playable build several weeks from launch is still a concern, I dont usually buy games that are poor quality on the basis that they might get better(especially where Activision is involved). Unless I am investing in its development. The also have $500 million as their budget for the next 10 years which is more than enough for majority of the features here. If anything would constrain them it would probably be the restrictive time frame. I hope they see this and change the game but they've so far failed to acknowledge this post at all. Which is disheartening.

  • Don't feel disheartened. The planetary events hasn't been acknowledged and I actually think all the posts in feedback don't get acknowledged. It's better that way for them, and us. They probably have Deej and some others look over the feedback and that group discusses it and then brings it to the designers and higher ups and see whether they think it's a good idea or not. They have said in videos we look at the feedback we are getting and the feedback helps us make a better game or something like that. They see all the feedback, but won't respond because of the "why didn't my post get picked" or "why that idea, it's bad" or any other manner of things that can be thought up. As I have said before better for them, and us. They will also continually update the game (free of charge of course) over the next 10 years. They will put together their own ideas with some fan feedback and try to put it in the game. Think of the full version as a basis for building the game bigger. Destiny is one of the first games of it's kind on a console and may be the very first of it's kind ever made (not too sure. PC could have a game that has continual game play updates [minecraft for one]). For people saying it's bad it's just the beginning. It is a growing game. I realize there will be a lot of content in the game on launch, but like you said it's a battle of Quantity VS Quality. For people getting it on launch (myself included) we are going to have to be brave. Think of the release on 9/9/14 as a Post-Beta testing for a few months. They would have a lot of updates in that time. By the five year mark it will be as Bungie dreamt it. By the ten year mark. They will have finished their story and created a really massive game (by 10 years I expect the game to be over 40gbs). They would add a lot in ten years. Sorry for the rant. Gotta love the rant.

  • I feel there may be a lot of content at launch, but not a lot of depth. And that is what truly concerns me. I'm still getting the game, but tbh if it doesn't have PvE depth, I may end up selling it. And I hate feeling this way, because I've been hyped for a long time. I would hate to spend money on a game and wait for the depth, not content, to expand. Especially since I think the PvE didn't have much depth. The PvE was fun. But will there be anything added to it? Like full fledged Quests, interactive NPCs who actually matter and are not vendors, in game lore not Grimoire, enemy camps/outposts etc? It needs to be more like an rpg imo. Because it felt like a "safari shooting range" to me. Obviously it was just the beta, but I don't think my concerns will ever be implemented on launch. Or ever... It just seems Bungie isn't making that type of game.

  • What you're talking about was there original intent. The were originally going to make a mmo-esque rpg for the consoles, but also wanted a shooting aspect. And thus Destiny was born. I am not sure because of hardware restrictions if some things were not implemented or it's a beta and it was the crappiest thing that they could piece together that they thought we would enjoy. Just speculation, far off speculation, but there is a chance I could be right. I really hope they have characters that you can encounter that give you side quests to do. One could be like "I went in search a treasured family heirloom and saw lots of fallen guarding the area where I remember it being, can you please go retrieve it for me?" A simple go and retrieve mission, but would add more depth to it and it needs quest/missions that actually have story or the game is going to be called "Destiny the game where nothing matters besides killing enemies and gathering loot" lol. I agree with more depth it would be fantastic, and would cause the game to be lacking if it's just not there. Although it wouldn't break the game for me. I would still enjoy it just it wouldn't be what I imagined.

  • Yea. It wouldn't really break the game for me. But with Dragon age, Shadow of Mordor, Assassin Creed Unity. This game will probably only be used for its PvP, which I don't want because I'm excited for a new fps PvE/free roam.

  • Precisely, the depth of the game is simply lacking and your comparison to a safari shooting gallery (in regards to the beta) is a really accurate description of what it was. Because of this I find myself in the same boat as yourself in that I am already considering ways to sell the game. It really isn't a good feeling.

  • It wast a rant, so don't apologize. As for acknowledgement I can understand your point even though I dislike it as it does make sense. As for the 10 years of continual development I don't really buy it (the concept at least), the last console generation will likely not be around in 10 years time so the continual updates wont likely reach that generation. I also really don't trust "Activision" the company that sells call of duty twice a year to be open to free updates for the next 10 years (it doesn't make business sense to me) and really goes against their history. If they were striving for a 10 year procedural improvement destiny wouldn't be on the last generation of consoles. I can understand with games like Star Citizen which will be on the PC because games on computers stand the test of time far better than consoles, but they are open with their development in an unprecedented way. Bungie has shown us only one map and none of the background changes that they have made. We cant hold them to these promised updates (or their quality) in any meaningful way. If Destiny gave me as even half as much assurance and information as Star Citizen has I would believe it, but as of right now I am quite skeptical. They have said they plan to monetize destiny over 10 years, not improve it over 10 years. I'm not trying to be a downer I am just justifying my views and more importantly how Bungie can change them.

  • True. About multiple points. They will have to update the game with new content for free or else Destiny will be the biggest flop in the History of activision/gaming. Micro transactions do ruin games. They also said they will continue to evolve it over time. So I revoke what I said earlier that they would continually update for the next 10 years. They will update it every now and again until the next version of Destiny releases. Couldn't be every week, but maybe every month or so. Add new raids, strikes, maybe some areas, but might exclude those for dlc. Also Bungie/Activision have been quite silent with anything beyond the game. I.E. Micro Transactions, those updates I am speaking of, and a few other things. Guess we will found out later.

  • Fair enough I now have a better understanding of what you were getting at and unfortunately the only way we can find out exactly what happens is if we experience it for ourselves. Hopefully the experience will be worthwhile.

  • I am thinking it will. I hope Bungie hid a lot of gameplay and some visual effects from or it will be kind of bad. Granted in the beta we also didn't have the motes of light. I hope Bungie pulls through and gives us the best. They always have. While I am here, what system are you on and are you getting Destiny on launch? Another thing you're one of the better I have talked to on these forums. Most are just rude and not understanding. As soon as it releases I will probably leave these forums except for announcements from Deej.

  • I am hoping it does too, I just lack strong justification for that hope. I am currently on the PS4 (I made the jump as soon as Microsoft stated the Xbone would be always online -_-) I currently have secured myself a ghost edition for launch and will be at the midnight launch at my local dealer. Yourself? Thanks for the compliment I am just trying to get serious changes to Destiny happening prior to the launch (in case the features we are asking for aren't actually being developed). I will still be on the forums somewhat after launch responding to people who comment on my post after all if they take the time to read it I should take the time to respond.

  • As foe myself I'll be on the 360. I was on the PS2 generation for some time so any graphics I see now are great. Won't invest in next gen (what I call it now even though it's now current) for a while. Until I see some great new IP I will just stay with the 360.

  • Fair enough, I really just wanted a next gen console. I agree with your decision to wait until new IP's come out for both consoles I have had next to nothing to play for the entire year XD. But it will have improved its current library of games dramatically by early next year.

  • As for weather effects they were in the alpha, but not the beta. I believe Bungie want to test other stuff out and left weather effects turned off for the beta build. So in Old Russia it will have that more cold feel for immersion in the full game. To let you know.

  • A few, they're mostly for PC though. My top picks are Star Citizen, Black Desert Online and for Playstation and PC Kingdom Under Fire 2. While all 3 are in development I actually have played a bit of Star Citizen and KUF2 just yesterday, they were both impressive judging by what is there and what is to come. I will probably test BDO during the next open Beta.
