I didn't even bother reading the article. It's already been confirmed that the 500 million dollar budget thing was false

Well, for the first iteration of destiny. It's for the entire 10-year plan, but I wouldn't call that "false".
more like partially true.
-
That's not true either.
-
Which part? The 500M for the entire series? Or are you saying that 500M just never existed?

Edited by Tyger: 8/20/2014 3:04:17 AM500M was a made up number For exampleGTA v cost 266 million to make, so the entire Destiny franchise costing 500 mill would be incredibly low, but for a single game it would be incredible high. Not to mention the only comment made was that they wish they had 500 mill budget but sadly they don't
"For marketing you'd have to ask Activision people, but for development costs, not anything close to $500 million,” Parsons told GameIndustry International in an interview. “I think that speaks a lot more to the long-term investment that we're making in the future of the product.”
I mean Activision said it, wouldn't they get sued for lying or something? Are they allowed to make up numbers like that?
-
You can't get sued for lying unless that falls within the lines of another law
-
Oh, alright. Thanks Tyger.

I'm not trying to be a dick. I just think the activision employee saying "a 500 million dollar bet" May have been a figure of speech or something

No man, it's okay. You're like, one of the biggest names on the forums. I don't think you're being a dick at all. The forums are for discussing things like this, and I still think you're awesome! So it's all good man. I was just confused is all.

The 500 million was roughly the cost of the game development + advertising/marketing + setting up the foundation for a new IP. Basically they spent a lot of money but it wasn't just for this game like everyone made it out to be. The cost of making the series will equal out to being roughly what a normal AAA game would cost per game in the series. So if the have 4 games it will equal roughly the cost of 4 AAA games
