• In competitive raiding in pretty much all other games, world first guilds don't release their strategies until they secure the first kill.

That's a pretty small fraction of the community though, no? Not raiders per se, I mean people who view first-clear as a thing of value. Plenty of other groups will be sharing what they learn as they go along, and the wiki-junkies will be putting details online asap...that's their competitive sport. :) I think we'll be seeing video of failed raid attempts popping up pretty frequently once people have access to it.

  • The videos you watch usually come from the high end raiding community... So yes... secrets will be kept until they get their first kill.

Somewhere I was unclear. :/ I know how mmo guild raiding works, and I understand that the super dedicated groups keep their strat under wraps until they clear it. They drop footage to prove they cleared it, and then people pick it apart. That will happen here as well, I'm sure. This is a different kettle of fish though. It's going to have a different dynamic in the community. Most of the Destiny console crowd is far more casual in their approach to this than to a traditional mmo. And I don't mean filthy-casual, I just mean that they don't take the idea of a clearing a raid first anywhere near as seriously as other player groups do. I think the result will be a lot more information sharing. There are going to be a lot of people sharing raid footage before it gets cleared. Look how rabid everybody is to have a single shred of information to share. Every new video that comes out right now gets posted by a half dozen people within an hour. That trend will probably continue, even if it slows down a little. Secrets will be kept, sure but for every group that keeps their secrets there will be a sackful who spread theirs around. Just opinion. It's a different community.
