As mentioned in this interview: http://www.ign.com/videos/2014/08/15/destiny-a-peek-into-competitive-multiplayer-ign-live-gamescom-2014, The makers of Destiny have finally decided to buff the Hand cannon and Pulse rifle.
Will it be in the form of increased Precision Damage?
If they increase the damage (impact), or more likely the precision damage (headshot multiplier), the more powerful Hand Cannons will become two shot kill weapons. (to the head that is). That makes it unlikely for there to also be improvements on other traits.
Or will it be in the form of useability in general?
If they decide to leave the damage intact, they would have to improve Rate of Fire, Reload time, Range, Stability, ADS time, Suppression, Suppression resistance, etc. , potentially making the Hand Cannon more like the Scout Rifles.

Edit: For clarification, ´useability in general´ refers to either Rate of Fire, Reload time, Range, Stability, ADS time, Suppression, Suppression Resistance, or any other trait of the weapon not directly related to damage output, or a combination of the above.

Only 1 buff is needed and that's the one i think they are placing. The Rate of Fire will be higher
-
Solution not covered by your post. 100% armor pen. No more tweaking needed.
-
Neither handcannon needs more ammo and faster reload if anything.
-
I'm happy to hear that they are buffing my two favorite weapon types. I did find the pulse rifles super fun to use, but hell of a lot weaker than the other rifles.
-
I think bungie could split the hand cannon into 2 categories, 1. A high base dam, high recoil, massive precise damage a true 6 shot cannon. 2. A high rate of fire, fast reload, low recoil but lower damage. This allows for both high accuracy and more gun slinger styles of play. Left alone the current hand cannon is garbage.
-
I would like them to just buff precision damage. My hunter already speeds up reloads.
-
Not even the traveler could fix that weapon. This game is based on the future and humans still cant find a way speed up the the reload. I think the darkness built that weapon so more guardians die on the battlefield. I also hope the pulse rifle gets more love.
-
Hopefully it is increased weapon reload speed!

Edited by NeoMorph WTH: 8/17/2014 9:20:28 AMI think they should keep the recoil but buff the kinetic damage as looking at it the thing is using huge assed rounds... maybe as big as a 50 cal in fact. Like the pistol above heh.

I was never comfortable with an assault rifle while I started off Destiny. I chose the Hunter class to feel like a Hunter and using any other weapon outside of a hand cannon and a sniper rifle felt weird. To be honest, I sucked at hand cannons at first but using it for hours and hours on end in explore farming glimmer. I felt a real connection with that weapon type. I just wanted to share that. >~>
-
They need 2-3 shot kill, a little and I mean just more recoil, and finally faster reload is a must.
-
Halve the recoil, halve the reload time & double rate of fire.
-
If anything the gun should have penetration allowing the user to kill multiples in front of bullet trajectory and i agree with most people faster reload, Buff damage if you want but personally damage is ok i think. It is fun to use just faster reload and penetration and i think that 5-6 bullets in the chamber will be much more understandable and the idea of killing rows of enemies seems pretty satisfying thats just my thoughts
-
-
I would just like the reload increased by maybe 25%-60% faster and more stability or change the weird red dot design Should be 2-shot to the head And 3 body shot then it will be even with the ARs (maybe)
-
It should actually fire severed hands.
-
Neither, it needs to have its reload speed increased. That's all.
-
I've been saying increase headshot damage forever. It's the only way that makes sense. If you increase the overall damage then people will just start spamming it.
-
Hand Cannons are going to be replaced by a banana.
-
You miss, you die. A glass cannon needs a true hand cannon.

Edited by The_Boomsmith: 8/16/2014 6:22:43 PMWhy do people say a damage buff will make HC a 2 headshot kill? It. already. was. Did you guys just not play with HC in the beta and decided to act like experts on it? I actually tested the gun. Quick analysis. 2 headshots = kill (only Titans lived with a splinter of health sometimes) 5-6 bodyshots = kill 1 headshot = over 2 bodyshots worth of damage, somewhere between 2.5 - 3x What made the HCs so weak was the penalty for not getting headshots. During a firefight, landing a 2nd headshot for the kill while your target is jumping around and shooting you with an AR was just too difficult. Even if you landed a headshot to open the fight, you still need about 3 bodyshots to net a kill. The HC fires slow because of the skill and time it takes to recover from the kick and having to shoot someone 3-4 times, including at least 1 headshot, is really asking too much of a primary weapon. The bodyshots need to count for more. The formula for a kill, when including 1 headshot, should be 2-3 hits. I know, it sounds OP as -blam!-, but you have to understand that the amount of time it takes to recover from a shot due to the kick really puts this weapon at a disadvantage.

I think that buffing the hand cannon will be gud cause then i can use a hunters iconic handgun over a less iconic scout rifle

I hope Bungie increases damage output. They are hand-CANNONS. At least let them deal a lot of damage; 2 shot kills, maybe even 1 shot kills in a certain radius (very close). Make the weapons as formidable as their name makes them out to be. for the pulse rifles I would say less recoil. It took me a while to get the hang of the pulse riflse as they were. Main issue for me was the recoil. Once I got the hang of it pulse rifles were ok, EXCEPT on PvP. PvP was mostly about Auto Rifle-Shotgun. I truly hope Bungie can tweek the weapons so that all weapons will become attractive to play with, because in the Beta this wasn't really the case. Good Luck to Bungie (because balancing weapons is THE hardest thing to do in PvP games)!

Dual wield. Increases damage, shot speed and clip size. Plus looks badass :)

Mix of both
