Back in my day...

Back in my day we didn't have this Call of Duty nonsense! We played Goldeneye! We couldn't aim and move at the same time, there was no jumping, no dlc, and we liked it dagnabbit! Silliness aside, what games are you all nostalgic for?

The good ole days of the N64. GoldenEye, Perfect Dark, Mario, Banjo Kazooie, Zelda, Conker's Bad Fur Day. Heck I even miss the Sega with Sonic and MK. Those were the glory days of gaming.

    • When I was a young'un all Atari games were the rage my favourite was probably empire strikes back on this system however the first rpg that I can remember was the hobbit on spectrum zx81. Then the 48 and 128 had games to many to recall but when the c64 came on the screen the likes of Boulder dash, Bruce lee then then Gunship and airborne ranger and the last ninja 1&2. Not forgetting the addictive Bubble Bobble. I could go on for ages but this was just the start of my love of gaming. To look back at these games now and look at Destiny on the ps4 it makes me truly proud to have been part of the gaming world now all I have to wait for is the VR stuff in development now. Then I will truly be a dribbling mess. lol. ;-)

Goldeneye definately killed some time on a Friday night with the boys. And destroyed many a controller. I think NBA live 95 on the mega drive was my first console game. Loved it

        • I was just in Chicago. I'm pretty big into craft beer. They have this place called Emporium. It's a bar (lots of good craft brews) and Arcade. One quarter to play everything which were all classics. I spent a lot of time on Donkey Kong and Ms. Pac-man

I know we moan about the price of game's these day's but back in megadrive/snes era we used to pay £50/70 for them. Guess we should consider them good value for money now !

              • oh gosh, I started playing Atari who knows when since my parents already had it. NES. sooo much gaming here. Obviously all the stereotypical stuff but one of my personal favorites was Tecmo Super Bowl. I also played base wars on NES. seems my taste has changed because I currently can't stand sports games. confession, I liked super contra much better than contra. PC. early - mid 90's, I switched to mostly pc gaming. Doom I, Doom II, and Command & Conquer are probably the two I spent the most time on. oh, and toss in a game with a fun story like Full Throttle. SNES: 4 player mario kart. obviously star fox and golden eye. maybe some F-zero in there for something different. PS1: obviously FF7 but also had a ton of fun with local multiplayer games such as twisted metal.

              • Sneakers on the Apple II was when I knew I loved video games. Goldeneye64 is still one of the best FPSs, then Soul Caliber and Dungeons and Dragons always remind me of good times.

                  • So many to choose from, though games that consumed me were Mario Kart, Tekken, Gran Turismo, Destruction Derby, have a memory of something called Hunter on Atari ST that stole a lot of time and further back was Gauntlet, S.W.I.V and of course Treasure Island Dizzy Haha One thing I don't get nostalgic for is loading games on Spectrum/Commodore for what felt like forever only to freeze and fail!!!!

                  • Final Fantasy Vll is forever my favorite game. In more ways than one, it is responsible for shaping who I am today and the hobbies/interests that still have a place in this soon-to-be 30 year old's life. Love me some Goldeneye 64, too!

Back in my day we played Captain Skyhawk and at the end of the level we had to try and land on a spinning aircraft carrier. You young punks don't know how easy you have it :)
