It just says bring your best gear so as far as I know that's the only thing that will give anyone an advantage. If they have armor with 500 defense and yours is 300 regardless how many levels difference you are they are going to have an upper hand. Good thing there is the crucible. I'm not setting foot in the iron banner until I have some good gear.

My point exactly - without any sort of matchmaking aid, the iron banner is going to quickly become a place to get your face smashed in, or endgame content. _Ohuigin

Haha! Thanks! I'm a little worried that the beta iron banner events are going to be VERY misleading for a lot of gamers. Everyone was capped at lvl 8, and therefore, so was their gear. So by the end of the beta, the iron banner kinda became a slightly gnarlier version of the standard crucible. Once the full game comes out, and the people that play 24/7 are matched up against the weekend warriors and there are +/- 10 levels between them, then the true brutality of the iron banner will shine. I'm kinda hoping that there is some degree of matchmaking aid. Otherwise, the iron banner might be a deserted place until the majority of players reach level 20. -Ohuigin

Here's the good news. I believe you are capped on how many crucible points and iron banner points you can get in one week. So, for example I got almost 2,000 kills in one week but some guy top 10 player in the world gets 7,000 kills, he can only get so much for his effort. Now I don't know how many levels you can move up in a given time. The bad news is if you can only play a couple hours here and there your not going to get enough points a week to do much with them.

Interesting. Man, there are so many nuances to every aspect of this game! It's going to take some time to figure them all out. The other thing - I vividly remember Bungie saying they built this game for the "causal gamer" and if the "casual gamer" needs to put hours on end in the iron banner alone, I'm not quite sure Bungie is referring to the same casual gamer as most of us are. _Ohuigin

They made it to please everyone, that's why there is open world exploring, story, multiplayer, raids for hardcore gamers, three entirely different classes, male/female with three different races. Unfortunately I am stupid sometimes and don't back down from a challenge and go into events like the iron banner and end up getting killed by some elite player who has been playing for 15 years. It sucks but there is still the crucible. The only thing that's going to get you a better advantage there is if you have more of your powers

I'm the same way. Stubborn and don't back down from a gaming challenge. That's why I'll probably end up pulling all nighters on the raids, and why I'll be getting my soul stomped in the iron banner before I'm even ready. _Ohuigin

Well that's the way i am I end up chasing down the guardian that keeps sniping me but I find that it just isn't always a good idea to chase. Better let them come to me instead, after all I'm a titan and I have the upper hand if anyone gets near me lol. I really sucked at the beginning that's why my k/d is low. Then I would play when I'm tired and not paying attention and die more. When I'm awake I usually end up getting a +5 margin

Well yes lol, if you don't keep up with the Joneses so to speak. But if your halfway dedicated to making sure you have good gear and aren't lagging behind everyone you still have a chance to win legendary gear from the iron banner. Point in case, plenty of times I would be 1st, 2nd, and 3rd but the last place guy would get something cool and not me. Hopefully it is level adjusted somewhat and lvl 5 players don't get stuck trying to kill a fireteam of all lvl 15 players, that would be lame.
