Uh...if it opens at 12am pacific...that's not a 3 hour wait...unless you're getting a physical copy. I've been used to it...I've been buying digital for a while now, and midnight releases, if it works out right, are scheduled for midnight pacific. Since I live in Washington state...that works out. Also, with the preload option, I plan on playing destiny *at* midnight of the 9th.

Methinks I misread both the op statements as.well as having my on misread. If you're buying physical and live on the east coast...then yes, a midnight launch will require you to wait three hours for the servers to go up. If its any consolation, wouldn't that mean EU people would have to wait even longer? If you're buying digital...then you technically have to wait the same amount of time. All I'm saying is that you would have to wait the same amount of time, physical or digital. Personally, I would have appreciated a midnight launch east coast, cause that means technically I'd be playing it a day before you would :P but alas, everyone involved (Sony, Microsoft, bungie) is west coast...so you go by our time zone, not your own, as far as the server being available. What system are you on, BTW? I can't confirm past digital titles for Xbox, but Sony digital releases have always been a at coast.

I am on PS4 and I am on the East Coast. So even though I can preload on 9/7, I have to wait to play till 3 am on 9/7. Which seems like it was no benefit for me to order a digital copy
