Destiny doesn't need match making for raids. Some type of little text chat that appears at the bottom of the screen with like "global", "raid" ect tabs or one that's accessible from the website/app with those same tabs and restricted to whichever console you have linked to your account for those looking for raid parties. That should solve the issue and help people find others to game with if they really need it..
My opinion though, I don't care either way lol I'm not even thinking about end game yet since the damn game isn't even out on shelves for like another 3 weeks...

When is the last time you had 5 friends on the same game that could devote 3 hours to one game?! It's going to be hard to pull off without matchmaking! All the FPS I've played in the past keeping a 3 man team together over an hour was a rarity! Large clans will be the best chance of completing a 6 man nightfall raid set in the highest level. It will take planning & a little luck to pull it off. That's just what the devs want from the raid too. They want the raids to be so hard & rewarding that the memory is special. Heard that on a podcast, then saw it on a dev "diary" vid blog. They aren't for the avg gamer. But, other parts of the game are!

Currently I have 10 online and we are all on CoD atm and have been playing together for last few hours and will be for a couple hours more. Benefits of being an admin for a FPS clan that plays across multiple platforms and games :p But even so it's not that hard to make friends with other people. Like I said there's no need for a matchmaking when all they need is a simple chat log. They could even make it like the bounties in game and have people sign up/register for your raid fireteam via a board type thing where you pick the raid, a time for when you want it to start and it updates as people join/are accepted by you (you would be notified in game when someone wants to join so you can accept or deny) so people can always see the current amount of people registered with X persons team for Y raid or something along those lines

But Deej said even that wouldn't be in there. In my opinion based on the info Bungie provided the clan wall or forum will be the best way to schedule. Hmm, wanna make a raid clan?!

You just cemented my point! Like I said, large clans will be the easiest way by far! No FPS has been clan worthy (in my opinion) since mwf2. In mwf2 I could put together a 6 man team for 3+ hours. Did so on many all nighters! That's why I don't have 200 friends in my friends list anymore. No other FPS has been worry! I don't run around in a large pack. Nor do the majority of gamers. Doesn't make me any less of a gamer as I have 2800+ trophies on psn and a pretty decent amount of gamer score on xbl. Which isn't your avg gamer achievement level. I rarely run into gamers close to that. I have ran into a few with much higher too, but very rare! This will force people to rely on clans because of that. But, it's still all conjecture unless you're a dev at Bungie. All we really have to go on is what Bungie has released. Either way, I'll be raiding every chance I get if the rewards match the difficulty! Destiny seems like a game I could 100% the trophies.
