Those asshats didn't put a spoiler warning up. Ruined it for me.

Bioware are the ones that ruined the ending.

Actually, supposedly, Bioware's original ending was ingenious, but EA rushed them and they had to go with the shit one.

I think on 11/7/17 Bioware should release a Mass Effect Anniversary Trilogy.

Well, the ending that would have been thematically appropriate and made sense, would have been Anderson and Shepard on the Citadel, bleeding out, and watching the world burn. It was right there. On the screen. Perfect. But then you started floating... And everything went to pieces. My opinion on the ending is that any suitable ending would have also killed the IP as a continuing brand. The suits and beancounters lost their %$^& when they realized. And so the completely inappropriate ending was hastily slapped on, color-coded for your convenience. I mean, anyone who paid attention to the story in ME2 *knew* the Catalyst was ReaperTech, and that it was intended to influence the course of civilization. But by this point, Shepard had established himself strongly enough as a character that there was no feeling of railroading when we were forced to take the bait. It would have been badly out of character for him *not* to jump at the chance.

THAT is the ending I expected, the whole thing was pointing towards some awful moment where we realise that the Reapers WANTED everyone to make a last stand so that they could kill us together and the Catalyst would turn out to be something awful that would kill us off. But that didn't happen.
