Great post, very thought provoking. I don't know if it's wise but I plan on creating 3 characters, 1 of each race and class.
I think the Exo, having been a war machine should be my Titan.
The Warlock should be an Awoken.
My Hunter should be a Human.
It's just my opinion but given the lore the Exo fits the Titan.
Everyone else is free to make their own choices of course

I think you're a racist :P. Where do you get off assigning what "should" make up each of the three classes by race? You can do whatever you like, but its a slippery slope your starting on ;)

:-) lols I get to decided because I am the creator of my Guardians. I get to create three and I'll create them my way. I see the Humans as Hunters because after the collapse we rugged individualists would have ventured into the wilderness to explore. The Awoken, if they are changed Humans, left Earth to escape the collapse. The change might have also included the powers the Warlocks have acquired. The Exo race, being war machines are stronger and more powerful than Humans. That fits the Titans. I will create my characters using that template but I also agree with Bungie's decision to disconnect the races from the classes. I've read the current lore but it is incomplete and open to interpretation. The races are cosmetic, just like the gender. No race is more suited to any class and no gender is more or less capable than another. We are all Guardians, that's all that matters.
My .02: Initially my thought process was that a human would fill the roll of the Titan, not only as the defenders of the wall but I would imagine humans would be the "last standing" to defend the last city and the final resistance for earth itself in those final hours. I could, however, imagine a Titan corp made up mostly of humans and exos defending the city and it's inhabitants with their dying breaths. For hunters I figured that with the fall of the majority of mankind all those exos designed for help would find themselves abandoned as their "owners" went off to fight in the final battles against the darkness. When they never returned the exos turned into refugees & outcasts. This could have put a burden on the remaining surviving cities resources and as supplies, room and power became shorter in supply the exos were eventually "pushed out" to fend for themselves as they didn't really require the necessities their human counterparts required. Harboring no real ill will towards humans exos became scavengers and hunters eeking out an existence in a very hostile world. Finally I think the awoken just fit that warlock description as they ventured out into space and possibly came across something in the darkness that forever changed them. I see those pre-awoken out on the verge of our inner solar system experimenting with dark elements and something went wrong (or right) that forever changed them. However, I could see exo titans and human hunters as well in these scenarios. Even a few outlier awoken that have not forsaken their human origins fitting into any of these classes as well. I didn't think too much about it during the beta as I just wanted to get into it right away, but now, I think I will really put some thought into MY character's personal background/history when creating my class in the final game. NOTE: passive race stats could throw all this out the window so I kind of don't want to see anything like that in the retail version. God speed Guardians
I think the idea of an Exo warlock makes sense though. Especially with abilities like that of the sunsinger and the "arc derived" third subclass. I'm with you on the voidwalker end but, an Exo purposely overheating and using that as a weapon sounds pretty extreme. Or even an exo unleashing his stored electrical energy in the form of lightning is awesome.

I would argue that humans correspond to Warlocks and the Awoken correspond to Hunters. While the humans were sheltered in the presence of the Traveler during the collapse, the Awoken prevailed on the edge of deep space. The humans would have been in much better condition to study the light of the Traveler, while the Awoken would have plenty of exposure to the untamed wilderness of the galaxy.

I think it's clear you can be any combo of class, race and gender so the choice is personal. My reasoning doesn't match the way the game works but I think we might all have our ideal race/class combinations. There should be 2(3^3) or 54 different combinations of class, race and gender. It would be limiting if each class had to be a specific race. I'm glad that's not the case.

Edited by Hard_Corsair: 8/10/2014 5:56:21 AMI realize anyone can be anything, I was just pointing out the most logical connections based on the lore. I'm projected to become an Awoken Titan upon release.

Same here. Exo=Hunter Awoken=Warlock Human=Titan And of course two will be males but one of them might be a female. This isn't because I have some deep need to be a female but because I like to have some diversity. This is another way to do make my three diverse and interesting, let them have character.

I came to the same conclusion. Great minds think alike
