I already see hunters getting screwed in raids.

First off I'm hunter. Always will be. It feels like people already don't want hunters in their raid group. They say because it has no support sub class and would be useless. As someone who has raided for many years I know how important a dps is. Going into a raid with all warlocks and titans with their support sub classes active just won't work well. You need those killing machines. Could be a hunter, maybe a Titan with striker or warlock with it's void damage. The other thing is we don't even know at this point if the suspected third sub class for hunter is support or not. It may end up being some long rang heal or maybe even something that grants all your team invisibility. Who knows. Not sure why people are already shunning the hunter for raids but I can see the hunter being great in a raid as a bladedancer and I can't wait to see what the third sub class is if in fact we get one at release. It may very well end up being the best support sub class in the game, it may not but the point is hunters for life. Just like a lot of people who think the Titan is the best melee I beg to differ. Hunters melee is incredible. Note: I am not saying one class is better than the other. I actually think they are all great and I'll play all of them. Hunter will always be my main though. Just like the speed and throwing knife and the jump fits my playstyle. Very fast.

  • Why does everyone think that the subclasses that have the capability to help teammates more aren't DPS? Its a shooter. Everyone's first priority is shoot stuff. Everyone's primary skill is "gun." I don't care if you have a bubble shield or a massive arc knife; You have access to all the same guns and should be shooting things with them. Plus, the Sunsinger can build himself into a juggernaut with negligible cooldowns for both of his grenades (because he can have 2). If throwing grenades like a pitching machine isn't "DPS" then I don't know what is. The defender can augment his abilities such that he reloads "blindingly fast" and gets a damage buff for walking through his bubble. Once again, if that's not considered "DPS"... And if you think invisibility isn't going to be valued as a supportive function in raids then you really haven't thought it through. imagine a teammate goes down, He's in a bad place. No one can get to him safely. He's a sunsinger, but his super is down. Your titan defender ally doesn't have his bubble up to protect him while he tries to res the dead guy. as a bladedancer, you could just run in, slide into your dead teammate, go invisible because you're now crouched, then res your teammate with impunity. Alternately, activate arc blade, run in, wipe out the surrounding enemies in no time, then go invisible to to res your teammate so that the sniper can't see you while you do it.
Also, there is no non-speculative evidence of a third subclass
I really want to try a 6 man raid of blade dancers stealthily advancing and blinking around. I think regardless of class, one of the main things to keep in mind is timing supers so that you create orbs at the right time and try to have a constant orb supply for super replenishment. I think hunters are the most versatile for this since their golden gun lasts for a while and you can wait to take that last shot until a team mate comes up and activates another golden gun and you can rotate like this. Of course I need to find people who are on board with it and practice... it may not even be a viable strategy but I think a team of hunters who can constantly rotate a point man (or 2) with constant golden gun active with heavy weapon support and stealth would be pretty effective.

  • I don't understand your post. I'm willing to bet you'll want a little bit of every class and subclass in there with you in a raid. Considering we know very little about them having titans, warlocks and hunters will probably be vital for success. And after all that is said and done were all there to kill shit support or not!

  • Hunters don't need a support sub class, and this is coming from a Titan. I will probably be playing defender depending on the the third sub class for titans ends up being. I know my rule is to take a beating and I know I need a hunter behind me to kill the things killing me. So I look forward to having hunter and warlock buddies around.

Hunters snipe enemies, Warlock heals the team and Titan is the tank who draws all the fire while the hunter is sniping the enemies and the warlock heals the Titan as he fights.

  • I wouldn't care what class my raid buddies are as long as they are an asset rather then a liability.

    • Hunter will be best for dps since arc blade is fist of havoc but faster and can be done multiple times.

    • No 3rd subclass till sequels (supposedly). It shapes up that each class will have a tree missing that the other classes can make up for. Follow dattodoesdestiny and more console on youtube plenty of info to digest that proves this

    • I stopped reading when i saw "dps class"... Did you play the beta? This isnt WoW! Or atleast i couldnt see any healers running around and stuff like that. But since most players play a hunter be sure if you do a weak job there will be someone found who do a better job in no time. And if you talk about killing machines i would say the warlocks will be that role in pve. Anyway i think a mixed team will do the best job at raids, still its annoying to see so many hunters that have their noses up in the sky FOR NO REASON AT ALL. I think thats the main reason why some people are sick of hunter before the game is even released. I will go first for a titan with the defender sub class simply because the beta was flooded with hunters. I guess things wont change that much in full game. And having a team with hunters only gonna suck in raids i could imagine. So if i want a mixed team i should do some for it aswell, even if i enjoyed playing as hunter aswell.

      • My perfect team is two of each... I did the devil's lair strike (I know not a raid) a few times as a warlock and two friends were hunters everything was fine. But when a Titan jumped in and we had one of each the whole strike seemed to go so much smoother...

        • You sound undeniably biased. From the beta the best DPS class is the Warlock. The best Support would be the Titan Defender, and Tank would be either Titan Striker/Defender depending how you build it. All of that is subject to change. My favorite class is the titan but I can still admit with its super and grenade the Warlock has the most potential to deal damage to more enemies per second. That being said all classes have guns to shoot

        • My opinion is classes really don't matter it's just that everyone needs to understand in order to achieve anything you have to help one another.

          • The classes are meant to be played together. I can't imagine that people would totally exclude hunters...there aren't so many classes that cutting one out would be a good thing to do.

          • Dude. I'll raid alone. as a hunter. zero deaths get at me. Lol that's if every one quits. Which is another concern. What if you play with 5 others and they all rage? Will it make you quit too?

          • hunters serve a purpose like every other class , titan has shield and warlocks have cool downs titan and locks are close range mid range. hunter has the option of long range. and survivability is a tactic in raids

            • I believe certain situations will make the average Hunter cringe (especially something like a cramped room filled with Thralls and you're put in an elevator down into the middle of it), but there will be times when the Hunter will smile with glee at the Titan (s)he just saved with a "And that's what you get for thinking little of me.".

            • Personally, I would welcome a hunter with good guns, the right skill set, and the right know how. I know group support is key for doing a raid, but so is being able to do massive damage... Which the hunter excels at. So far, the Warlock and the Titan each have a subclass that focuses on support/defense, while the Hunter's classes only gets a gun and powerful throwing knife (I could be wrong, I tried checking, but the skill pages are blank for me). If the Hunter can be stealthy, they can deliver the vital blows necessary to turn the tides of battle.

              • I see no reason to have a hunter in your group, the only different between classes are thier supers, a warlock can do everything a hunter can do and even buff, but the good a hunter can do is its golden gun when arc does no damage void and solar will help

I don't believe in calling classes dps, healer or tank. Only reason I said dps in my OP was because that's what people are labeling it and that was my whole point. The warlock being a called a support class with it's solar sub class is crazy to me. Why? Because to me that sub class sounds more like a damage dealing class and may in fact be the best damage dealing sub class in the game.

                  • The Stealth Hunter, while having obvious benefits for PvP (that cloaking... meh) Would be able to play the medic quite well for PvE, if used correctly. Go into a crouch for Cloaking, sneak over to a downed teammate, revive, and become a Guardian Angel on the battlefield. That seems to be more of a 'Survivalist' build, instead of an 'Assassin' Build. I will be playing the Hunter myself, but for the fact that you can make the BladeDancer a true speed demon. I enjoy speed, I enjoy melee, and I enjoy precision. Thus why I play the Hunter.

                  • As long as you have a good core defense and support for the group then you're good to have anyone in it. Now you can see the hunter is a lone wolf because it has no support or defense subclasses but they do well with precision damage output. Not insanely more but more. I see a team of all supports taking a very long time to complete a raid but the turtle strategy gets the job done. Hunters may be screwed for a little while, while the raid gets learned but they will get involved eventually. My suggestion is have friends and raid with them. I'm doubting raids will be completable by the lone wolves. But that's my opinion.

                  • a support role will put out the same kind of numbers as a dmg role. know why? they all have access to the exact same weapons lol. personally ill be looking at player skill lvl and availability not what class/sub they are playing.
