I've been on disability for a number of years... My last board that consisted of 5 doctors examining me and they put me on permanent disability due to my illness is one that will get worse as time goes on. They had oodles of data and examined me closely.
My problem is that I have Joint Hypermobility Syndrome... I dislocate and sublux (partial dislocate) joints pretty much every day. That causes nerve damage and ooodles of pain. The doctors even managed to dislocate my shoulder in the exam lol. Hell, I even dislocated my thumb playing COD4 back in the day.
So years go on and I get progressively worse... then the UK Conservatives get into government and they insisted that everyone who is on disability should be tested again. Now I didn't have any problems and I ended up with MORE money than before... but the problem is that it left me a mess after hearing that people who are so disabled that they can hardly function were being designated as "fit for work". Hell they even sent this one guy the notice that he was fit for work AND HE HAD DIED FROM HIS ILLNESS.
Granted that some people have conned the system and have been ripping off the government. But the ones who truly suffer are the ones who need the support the most, like Fallen003. They don't take into account the stress that they put on disabled who have enough worry as it is. The government don't see the sleepless nights due to stress from the disability. I've know down's syndrome sufferers who cannot do anything for themselves who have been told they are fit for work. I've seen one guy who was on a heart transplant waiting list put on the Fit For Work. Know what? There is one group of people that ISN'T fit for work and that is the people who are doing the assessments.
Sorry, things like this really pee me off. Fallen003, my thoughts are with you. DON'T GIVE UP...
