A lot of people ignore invites and a lot people don't want to join a clan. Some people just want to jump straight in. And I believe there should be an option to do it co-op or not.

  • People who want to jump straight in are the problem. The Raid is an icon. It is representative of the single greatest challenge in the game. If anyone can do it on a whim, with no preparation or sense of occasion, then the Raid is no longer a symbol. It just becomes another chore to grind.

  • Everyone acts like a noob is gonna be on the team if they add matchmaking to the raids. But it's endgame content. Everyone will be skilled by the end of the game. You get what I'm saying?

  • Haha, no they won't. As an honest question, have you played an MMO before?

  • Yes I have played Wow, Dcuo, champions online, eve online, perfect world. Conquer online, etc. The point is I've played a lot of mmo's and I know having the option to choose matchmaking or not won't harm the game.

But matchmaking (LFR) has harmed almost every game that has added it to end game content. I don't know why you think this game would be any different.

  • Name a few games that matchmaking has harmed. Scratch that name a few games that aren't mmos that matchmaking have harmed

Raiding is something that is pretty much a staple of MMOs. Therefore, MMOs are the only thing that this issue can be compared against.

  • But that's what most people don't understand this isn't an mmo. Bungie are just try to bring some features that you'll find in a mmo to a fps game. That's why they didn't call it a mmo they called it a shared world shooter.

Yes, but if it is an MMO feature, then you need to treat it like an MMO feature. If they are trying to bring an MMO feature to this shooter, then the raid should be treated exactly how it is in an MMO. Because what other shooter has anything that is comparable to a raid, so I can make a point about matchmaking? None? That's what I thought.

  • But plenty of mmos have matchmaking for raids. I understand everyones point against it but with the mm feature. Nothing is stoping them from finding a group of 6 people still. Plenty of people do that in dcuo

But raiding is a joke in the MMOs that have added LFR. That was my point. The raids are nerfed into oblivion to where anyone can LFR and complete them. That is what will happen here if it is introduced. Plus, you are talking in circles. I said LFR (matchmaking) could hurt the game and you said name a game that it hurt that wasn't an MMO. I told you why only MMOs should be compared on this issue, because raids are an MMO feature, and you say that MMOs have LFR. I know MMOs have LFR, that is how our little back-and-forth started.

  • See, THIS is the problem people have. Matchmaking for raids isn't the problem. the problem has been, and will continue to be, developers giving in to the whiny 80% who go into matchmaking raids expecting to face roll stuff, and then finding out they suck, or whatever. In the end this is NOT the fault of the LFR, it is the fault of the developers for giving in and making shit easier to appease the masses. Bungie has proven they cna keep track of who is doing what, and so, with teh addition of LFR, would simply need to watch and compare a few more things. So: Step 1) Bungie sees a difficulty complaint about the raid. Step 2) Bungie looks to see if the person making the complaint LFR'd, or if they went in pre-made Step 3a) If complainer LFR'd, they mostly ignore the whiny bitch. Step 3b) If the complainer pre-made, they actually think about looking into it. It really is as simple as that. People have the choice to either premake, or to LFR, and Bungie only has slightly more work to do sorting the whiners from the true issues.

  • If this was the case, I would be all for MM. It is just that too many of us have seen the opposite too many times to expect this.

  • I guess we just have to wait and see what bungie does. If they decided to add mm you're just assuming they'll nerf everything.

No, if they add MM, they will have to nerf the raids. It is what every game that has raids and adds this feature does. If they don't, I will be pleasantly surprised, but the odds are against it.

Okay, well it's a very easy thing to see in any game that a massive amount of the people at maximum level, even often with good gear, suck. It's simply all too possible to brute-force grind your way to higher numbers, without ever learning a thing. You just have to have more time than most.

  • I know what you're saying and I understand that. It'll just be better if there was some type of option to choose random matchmaking or play with your friends.

Eventually, maybe. But not for the highest endgame content in the entire game. Not at launch. There needs to be a sense of occasion. Otherwise it will feel no different from every Mission and Strike already in the game. As new content cycles in, it would make sense to have older Raids be opened to matchmaking.
