I think everyone has latched on to one thing that was said in the article done by IGN. So you can't have matchmaking for raids. Has that made you so mad that you missed everything else?
The article/video mentions several other things. For example, nightfall missions. I haven't seen a single post on the forums about the nightfall missions. Are they strikes? Easier raids? They sound interesting and even more important are updated daily and weekly.
Daily story chapters were mentioned in the video as well. Worried about a short story campaign? Well you might not need to. (If they turn into Spartan Ops, then I will be very disappointed)
The point is that there is so much more to this game than we previously thought. We, at least I, haven't heard anything about nightfall or daily story missions. Bungie has also made it clear that this game will be continuously supported with more than just updated challenges and bounties. All of you people are complaining about one thing, possibly big or little depending on who you are, and are ignoring so many good things. So before you cancel your preorder at least look at the whole picture. I'm just in need of some sanity on these forums.
So please share your ideas on what raids, nightfall missions, and daily story chapters could possibly contain. (preferably without any whining and complaining, you people are older than that.)
tl;dr There's more to the video than no matchmaking for raids. Pay attention and you might see something you like.

I feel the same way. The whole matchmaking thing for raids isn't necessary for me because I have several friends to play with already. For others though, it may be different. Can't wait to hear more about all of this.

Edited by DigiOps: 8/1/2014 5:51:11 PMEvery time I watch that video I get so pumped. And I can't help but chuckle about the Cudgel of Xanthor.
-
im seriously looking forward to EVERYTHING this game has to offer. every. single. bit.
-
its my understanding that nightfall missions are strikes with random higher leveled enemies
-
I think everyone is ignoring how epic the titans air dash knee kick is

Edited by Tibbaryllis2: 8/1/2014 5:54:41 AMIn a nutshell... Nightfall strikes = LASO weekly challenges.
-
The most interesting thing i thought was when he said your game begins at level 20... Then he touched on the different builds & anyone else see how much content was on the maps? Destiny is gonna big big... Your Momma big :)
-
So is a mote of obtained by just gaining exp. after level 20?
-
Well said! +2

Ummm...you guys. I think everyone apparently looked this over in the article. “Unlike a bunch of the other activities in Destiny, where you begin the activity – like let's say you pick the level-22 Strike playlist – everything in that activity is going to be level 22. It's going to be consistent. If you're level 26, you're going to have some relationship to it. You're going to be more powerful than that activity. In a raid, when the raid begins at level 25, it's not where it ends. Like part of going the raid is the journey of gearing up; building your arsenal to react to the situations that it's going to ask you to go through.” it says if you're level 26 IF YOU'RE LEVEL 26

I caught it all. I'm really excited for pretty much everything they mentioned in that video.

Edited by mdlange82: 8/1/2014 2:00:10 AMYou seem to be the voice of reason. I am new to these sort of games, I hear so much negativity I have seriously thought about canceling my preorder. However I had so much fun with the beta, I'm not willing to cancel just yet.
-
Did you read the article? Nightfall strikes are the same strikes just harder with different modifiers.
-
I thought every single thing they mentioned was crazy exciting and got me all jittery... And then people immediately jumped to complaining about something that they can't even price is bad because go figure... The game isn't even out yet
-
Bungie has stated repeatedly that we've seen less than 10% of what is in the final game. But people---as usual---aren't listening, and are jumping ot conclusions.
-
To me night raids sounded like story missions or strikes with bounty attributes. It's the story but with added difficulty because certain aspects of your character might be nerfed or unable to be use during the mission. Like say immunity to void damage. So your void walker warlock or fusion rifle with void damage end up being useless.

Does anyone know if Xbox One and Xbox 360 players will be able to play together for the final game? I would love to play Raid and other gametypes with my brother and friends on Xbox 360 (I play on the Xboxx One). I thought they would allow cross platform play within the Xbox Community, but that was not the case for the Beta. Thanks!

Edited by Mandingo: 7/31/2014 1:19:57 PMnightfall is a strike but "harder". Bungie should remove the matchmaking system on everything that is "Hard"
-
If people really think that match making is no big deal then let bungie get rid of match making all together and watch this game fall the fuk apart. Bungie bragged so hard about their new match making system and how well it works but its not good enough for riads????????????????/
-
This nightfall stuff sounds something along the lines of.....kill 1000 dregs by the end of the day....what a draag
-
The video also confirmed multiple strike zones per planet.
-
Nightfall missions will be recycled areas with tweaked levels and objectives. Mark my words
-
IGN raised my hype another 9000 with this.
-
I think Nightfall missions are just Strikes with added challenges. Maybe even a timer.

Except for the Raid, all of them seem like they will be nothing more than shoot this or that and collect this or that. Maybe a wee bit of narrative here and there. The whole point of Destiny seems to be to get enough reputation points and marks or what ever else in trade to be able to get the end game gear needed to play the Raid at the end. That is the end all to be all and it seems like we will have to buy the game and play it to understand it. Hope they don't say much more on it and keep a mystery to it. No matter they call the rest of the stuff, it sounds like it will all basically play the same. Basically shoot everything in sight. Get some loot and xp and Vanguard related points and marks to get to the point so you can do the Raid. Sounds like many will need to join a clan to do the Raid. I watched the video and read the print and so far, that is how the whole picture looks to me. Lots and lots of repetitious play against weak AI, more so than I have seen in any other shooter. They change the scenery and might call something a nightfall mission but it's basically it still comes across as shoot anything that is standing in front of you and collect loot. Nothing much else to do. Hoping the daily story missions might be a nice replacement for the Grimoire cards to start filling things in about the overall story for Destiny. That seemed like a good thing.

nightfall missions take a current strike and make it harder in some way. Whether it be more enemies, more difficult enemies, weird things that reduce the effectiveness of certain elements/gear, etc. If you saw some of the leaked data there is all of the strikes duplicated with the word nightfall in front of them.
