If Bungie are trying to make the Tower social then they need to add things like: a bar, party area, sparrow racing, T.V/cinema lounge, Catwalk/Costume competition, shooting range etc... You know, fun, social, friendly activities for all! The player cap for the 'Tower' is 16 at the moment, it needs to be raised; maybe to around 35-40? Bungie can make the 'Tower' a lot, lot better than it is at the moment if they just add some or even all of our (the public's) ideas. Comment below saying what the 'Tower' needs adding to it.

all i need is a poker mini game and a glimmer gambling system. that would be amazing!
-
All they need is proximity chat in tower. Disabled at vendor. "Mute all "users represented with icon over their head so you know they aint listening. Its the best, if not only, social feature you could really add.

KEEP IN MIND THEY ALREADY RATED IT "T" So bars would have to be called cantinas. No strippers, no drunkenness, no smoking, no nothin. This is why I don't agree with the rating
-
I disagree. I think the Tower is fine as it is. 16 players is quite a nice number of players for the Tower as it is not too crowded. Also, I don't think Guardians should be lounging around, watching TV, and painting each other's nails, whilst their existence is under threat from an extraterrestrial army.

I agree wih some of the stuff you mentioned. But remember this is a world where resources are dire. And we live under constant threat of total wipe out. Everything needs to seem like we are struggling. Even in such conditions we need fun but it needs to look like we are having a tough time coping. For example fallout 3. Everything looked makeshift and rotten and dirty which totally befit the theme of the game. So i dunno what things like a fashion ramp and lounge or dance club look like here on destiny. Every time i visit city i get reminded of the citadel from ME. The dance club in citadel ... the hospital ... but this isnt that. We dont have a galaxy of aliens working together... it is just us... and them... and we gotta kill em. Great ideas though.

The capital's in WoW were large so you needed to use your mount. The Auction house and banks were the large gathering areas aside from the Arenas area. There were a ton of different things to do in he capital. Let us go down to the actual city and see what's there and speed around on our sparrow there!

im down for dice and poker :P

I do believe they already plan to implement the lounge idea within the Tower. I observed a few places within the space where there were no operable NPCs to chat with and the whole purpose of the space seemed to be that there were couches. Or maybe those NPCs just weren't there in the beta and the space will actually be used for something. IDK.

It needs gambling/ card tables
-
Public voice with the ability to block. Not a fan of this teen rating.. No blood no booze no sex...
-
Every year on my birthday I want a clown to visit the tower. An make balloon animals for everyone to kick around a stuff. lol
-
Needs a chat option
-
The lack of matchmaking for Raids is another reason for the bar or Guild Hall or whatever - convenient in-game recruiting...
-
What they need is proximity chat so you can talk to players at the tower
-
If you want the tower to be social, add chat features ingame and mini games in the tower, like racing or card games.

For sure......need more folks runnin round the place, would give a more realistic "there's loads of us saving the world" feel! Betting and games, are good suggestions I read, but shooting ranges and sparrow racing is inspired!!! For my ten pence (yea, I'm British) worth maybe an expansion of the shooting range being shooting assault courses like at the start of mw2 with a leader board, with emblem prizes for getting in the top 10 places leading to extra achievements/trophies???

Edited by MightyJonE: 7/31/2014 7:43:04 PMin dreamcast's phantasy star online, at the social spaceship hub, you could type messages that other players could see - the messages would appear as speech bubbles above your character - I'm amazed at how polite everyone was, I just can't imagine that now! :D but still, it's a neat idea, though I can't imagine that happening in a game like destiny now that voice chat is so ubiquitous, However, typing messages does have some advantages over talking "hello, I'm vax orbon from the star fields of orion, nice to meet you" - you just couldn't get away with saying that in voice chat.....unless you really were vax orbon from the star fields of orion! :D

As I mentioned in other post, it'd be nice to see a form of an auction house for trading and buying. Also, a skill range where you play once a day to get a little more experience to rank up or chance of getting an item using various skills and/or weapons. I definitely like the sparrow racing idea but I can't see that in the tower, maybe added on to the maps on different planets. Additionally, it'll be nice to see better use of the ships other than just seeing them fly in orbit.

You don't necessarily want more social interaction like your suggesting OP. The Tower is not this "fun in a bucket" corner. As we were first introduced to it, it is the Guardian sanctuary. Where we meet and converse about a wide variety of things but most all of them have something to do with combating the great darkness ahead. However... I am all for a socialism element somewhere. If you want a socialism element, I would actually suggest adding a DLC area like a bar or auction chambers or anything you want, but OUTSIDE of the tower where Guardians can go on their off time. Maybe even a guardian shopping center for exclusive deals which can be used for a wide variety of things like modifying a ship, buying a hanger to store all your ship models, adding specialized guns with more awesome descriptions to make someone go, "I want THOSE guns on MY ship!" down to maybe a specialized clothing options to make your guardian truly yours. It doesn't have to be used for combat, but just the opposite: customization and interaction. There's lots of ways to get this done and to be honest, Destiny has all the time in the world for possible DLC ideas both for the crucible and/or the Tower. At this point, just give Bungie ideas on what you want. It's not necessarily about creating brand spanking areas like I suggested above, but what would you like to see and whether it is technically feasible for a sustain team to program.

I do want to see some Sparrow Races. I even put out a pole to vote on if anybody's interested in voting please do. http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/67180166/0/0/1

There actually is a bar (I think you could call it a bar). I believe it's a floor below the shipwright area. It's pretty unimpressive and secluded, but there is one. They should move it to like just outside the main area where people spawn when going to the Tower.
-
1. Already has a party area. 2. A bar? And I'm the idiot. OK 3. A tv? Really, you want a freaking tv to watch while you play destiny? Just watch your freaking tv!!!!
-
Put an arcade into the Tower that has pre-Golden Age arcade machines that all have old Activision games on them like Pitfall. We could beat each other's high scores and other guardians could watch over your shoulder as you played.

Like your idea for the Sparrow racing and firing range and Krysstoph's idea of a combat training course. As a vet, a little friendly gaming was a way to pass the time, gambling was against regs and we never broke those.

Edited by Zig A Dee: 7/31/2014 10:20:18 PMWhile I don't think it will (or needs to) be added, I love the idea of Sparrow Racing and a Casino. It would be even cooler to get emblems and gear from winning races or say a poker tournament. For example a special hand cannon you only get if you win a hand with Wild Bills dead mans hand (aces and 8's) and of course it would be called Dead Mans Hand. LOL or whatever the game is awesome as is.
