I appreciate all the information presented here. For myself I have tried to keep any expectations low on this game. What the Beta did was show me what and how the game's mechanics are setup. The added details are interesting, but greater revelations I would not expect until the full release. If there's one thing I would disagree with you on, it's the question of hype by Bungie. To me, that hype-train lies with the reveal vid-doc: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EwOUi4JDC4o While it may not be fair to use as an example this far down the line, but the whole thing does come off as pretentious when using phrases like "bold, new action game"; "we're challenging ourselves"; and "building something alive." It sounds like your are selling something way beyond a game - that's some serious hype you setup for your audience for better or worse. Now - if anyone can pull it off, I tend to think Bungie can. They have been great at building well-done worlds and stories - look at Marathon, Myth, and Halo to see that. So, despite any hype, I would not say I am disappointed nor expect to be when the full game is revealed.

 • Agreed. For me just the fact the developer is Bungie, it is easy to hype the game. Seriously look at the quality of Halo games and how epic they were (and are). Which is why I whine and sort of complain here in these forums. I know Bungie is more than able to make an amazing FPS with MMORPG elements. And that is why I pre ordered the Limited Edition with fancy DLC included. I voice my concern that the recent rumors and "findings" are showing me a product I feel was not what Bungie promised in "living, growing world." The game mechanics are perfect for me. I love the RPG elements, I love the controls, the powers, the beautiful visuals, and actually even the voice acting. What I fear and doubt is the quality and length of the story missions (I am not a PvP guy). I love playing coop with friends. And sure enough I loved playing with friends the Strike mission. Which is why I want more of it, with longer and more interesting story missions. I have not lost faith in Bungie, and Im keeping my pre order. But I must confess my concerns...

 • I think that's the right word: concerns. After some of the vid-doc details, I was getting skeptical (for reasons already mentioned). While some have been disappointed (and have legitimate concerns), the Beta instead reassured me of the game they are developing. If I was concerned about pre-order, I have now definitely put in my order. So - an article like the OPs has helped allay concerns. I also wanted to agree on the Strike missions. Moreso than PVP, Bungie has shown their talents for developing team-based missions in FPS. I played House of Devils a couple of times and found it hit the right combo of team mission and story to make it interesting without dragging. If this game style can be utilized along with story missions throughout, I can see the game succeeding. While PVP will be a big part, it's less so to me than the other elements.
