In all of Destiny I have heard of the Darkness , to the intro to all the characters saying how ,''The Darkness is coming''.But i have never even seen gameplay footage or concept art of it.Obviously Bungie wants to keep it's appearance a secret until the end of the game or it's sequels ; but that does stop guessing ! Of course , when I think of the darkness I think of the Traveler but black . With that in mind , I also think that the Servitors (the big , levitating , purple , orbs in the Beta) are the Ghosts of the Darkness and they are sent to the different species to organize them , to keep them under control of the Darkness , and to collect they're souls or life force to send to the Darkness to make zombie - like , and obedient versions of them . Hence the concept art of the smoking Cabal/Fallen force (if you haven't seen it you should look it up).Not only do I think that , I also think that the Darkness has it's own species it keeps close at heart ( Similar to Humanity and the Traveler). Who have triangular ships and claim most of what the Darkness has taken . The reason they have not been seen is because they stay near the darkness for protection , which is in the outer solar system . Either that or these beings themselves are the Darkness .
