Kill/Death apparently means something around here

EDIT: my point is being missed. I didn't ask if a high ratio makes me a good player, I asked why, when I give an opinion about the game, a typical answer is "your kd sucks stfu you're stupid and don't matter". Pretty sure Bungie would like opinions from everyone, not just good players. Then they know how to reach a wider market. Is that not logical? Mine sucks. Putting that out there to save everyone the time of looking up my profile, seeing it blows and posting it. That said, apparently a high kill/death ratio means your opinions are worth more than mine because "you suck, get good n00b lulz". So, someone explain to me when not being good at this game meant my opinion about the game doesn't matter. This should be good.

  • The higher the KD the higher chance of being a virgin.

  • Honestly it depends on what your opinion is about, if your saying oh this or that is overpowered in PvP then honestly that could just be that your not that good at PvP, with that said it doesn't make your opinion any more or less valid but if only people getting destroyed complain about something say Sniper rifles(my personally most hated weapon) could be just that your not good at using them or not dying by them. if your complaining about a bug that's a whole other story though. i cant give specifics as i don't know what your referring to specifically though.

  • It only matters to the competetive, for the most part. I'll probably spend my time in end game raids and strikes rather than PvP. If raids are as hard as has been hinted at, those stats should really mean more.

  • I guess because you've created a straw man of what you think people say. I don't think Bungie or others really take too much stock in the leet of the leet. Sure there are posts made by Halo experts that think their opinions matter more because they're k/d is in the thousands. But it doesn't make their arguments any more or less valid. A good argument is a good argument, regardless of who makes it. With that being said, my k/d in any PvP game settles around 1.25. No matter what I do. Some games I'll crush it and get a 6.0 most others I'll get a .60. I don't really have too many complaints with the PvP. Most PvP rules apply here. Look at your mini map, learn the map. Learn to run when you have to. Attack strategically and don't rush in. Of course there are obvious things like, make sure you're reloaded and PICK UP any AMMO you see especially heavy. The machine gun mows through peeps...etc...

  • KDs don't really mean that much, You can easily get a good KD camping with a Sniper, And it really shouldn't matter when you are talking about the game in general. This game is much more than just PVP.

Many times, especially these days with Esports, KD/skill matters. People are still incredibly drawn towards hierarchies in life and unless you're "higher" than them, others do not generally respect you. Since KD is one of the feel easy statistics, it is what people flaunt. Edit: Also it is implied "pro"/ good players know the balance of the game well so they are allowed to comment on the current game meta.

  • KD is child's play... maybe I am saying that because im 26 as opposed to 16 smashing up counter strike. In the crucible ive seen alot of players getting around with great KD ratios... however i have noticed a significant gap between getting a great KD and actually winning the type of match you are in. Would be nice to one day see a pvp system which acknowledges strategy over running around spamming special abilities or taking advantage of noobs in beta. The ranking/match making system will fix that right up in the full version of the game - you will see people coming up against better matched opponents and their super awesome KD Ratio will dreadfully fall to where it should be. Head up mate, strategy makes the game more satisfying.

    • My crucible KD is pretty bad too, that's why I made my clan. Where skill level doesn't matter.

I can't link my email to my gamertag or my account I've actually played the beta on, but I'm pretty sure I've won most of my games and my K/D is somewhere around 1.5-2 That has nothing to do with the value of my statements I make towards the game, and anyone who gives you grief over that... I'd just ignore them... Or troll them if you're up to it.

    • Opinions matter from all aspects of the game regardless of k/d ratio. The ones who say yours do not are clearly either under the age of 16 or mentally under the age of 16.

Generally. People go into the crucible thinking they are gods and that they will have a 2+kd every match. Then they run into people and squads that are good and they will complain and whine about every single thing that they died from. Nerf grenade auto rifle too op scout rifle too op nerf super nerf vehicle It's not the game that's bad it's them. It's a beta, Sure. But it's balanced. Not broken. I don't abuse mechanics to get good kd's and win games. I play like i do every other fps and get the same exact results. Which brings me to my point that yeah sure. High kd should be more recognized as a valid source. These people do well and clearly know whats right and wrong. Like i can say right now. The only changes that need to be made are: Slightly lower firing rate of interceptor, Reduce recoil on pulse rifle slightly, Major change to the handcannon in general. And that's it.

          • PVE is the best part of this game. PVP is a little side distraction and that is all. It's a looting hunting fps with rpg elements. I'm mostly worried about PVE and have a little fun with PVP on the side.

          • Can you even check overall K/D from the crucible? I feel like Bungie hid the death count stat on the lobby screen just to highlight how they don't want people reflecting over large amounts of deaths. But yeah, I'm curious to what my overall K/D is but I can't seem to find it on B.net. Overall Stat tracking was much easier in the Halo days, but I guess this is just the Beta so nothing final can be said.

            • Everyone here is going to have there own opinions regarding K/D, but as Ewoktapus and Lovell has said. Numbers do not lie. A players contribution to the team can be quickly measured (Estimated) via K/D and overall points post game. Now that does not mean it is going to be entirely accurate of someone's supposed skill, but it does provide someone a general idea. IMO I would much rather party up with those whom have high K/D's versus those whom have low ones. Just throwing it out there.

            • K/D isn't everything for sure! BUT if you're trying to give opinions on how best to balance multiplayer and your K/D is .35...you might wanna keep quite for a few reasons 1. Lack of skill is the leading cause of people making claims that certain things are imbalanced. 2. You just might lack even basic game balance theory. Is that not a fair assumption? I hope this answers the question enough. Keep practicing and have fun brotha!

            • You have the idiots that live and die by their KDR, everyone that has one below them is a loser. You just need to ignore those people and enjoy the game. Luckily you can ignore people on these forums and never see their worthless posts again.
