Our concern was that people who are not your friends won't respect the quality of your experience.
UPDATE: Sharing all of this feedback with the people who should read it. We'll see what they have to say.

Its still better than running around while one guy sprints to the finish and its the other guys first time here... proximity chat and pvp chat are dreadfully needed. I love the game but the worst part is the lack of communication abilities. Not being able to talk to my team in pvp, strikes, raids, or other events is awful.

Hi Deej Here is what I propose on what John of Mars Says there should be a menu in the options screen that allows you to "equip" various gestures, some gestures you have to buy with glimmer When the system decides what team you are on in PVP you can click a button that says "add all to Fireteam" then people on the team getting a option saying "Join fireteam" or "I'm a Lone wolf (decline)" In PvE you should be able to toggle Proximity Voice chat (also add proximity voice chat) However a mission to unlock it would be fun. Also would be see my 2 Suggestions and add feedback criticise it etc http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/70244918/0/0/1

And thats why you put a MUTE button in the game. That is so stupid. Especially in strikes and PVP
-
You're a -blam!-ing moron Deej. That is all.

But you need some ability to make friends which is not what is not happening (at least from what I can gather, I could be wrong). All that we are asking for is more communication so we can make those friends. Think of it this way, if we were actual guardians, every one would be communicating with another at some point and ask if they wanted to hang out and destroy the darkness for a little.

Make it so the person has to accept the voice from the person talking to them. And then the person can choose to accept them and allow them to proxy chat all the time? Kinda like friend request but without adding them

MAKE IT TOGGLE-ABLE ITS THAT SIMPLE!
-
What about meeting new friends?
-
Isolating players and trying to form a party on the fly was very difficult during the beta. I need help killing a level 14 knight and a player was near by I went through god menus to invite him only to notice that he already moved out of the area. I'm like we'll now I guess I'm going in alone

Any news is great news. The masses may not have even played the game yet. Its almost perfect but these lack of social features for someone who for example has played cod,Halo, wow and borderlands will be underwelmed. I think perhaps the strategy on dealing with bullies and mean people should be left up to Microsoft and Sony's system. Just as on these forums we have a mute feature, Xbl also has this system. It's 2014 telling gamers especially the AAA market how to play a social game with lack of social features doesn't fly. While many will buy the game the next Dev that decides to implement the features that are lacking will take the market just as wow did.
-
DeeJ a lot of people want this feature cant you guys add like a mute system, that way rude randoms that you meet cant just insult you you can mute them instead. #makeithappenbungie
-
If that was Bungie's concern isnt the obvious solution to enable an option to disable voice chat or mute individualy, shooters have been doing this for years
-
That is such a cop out. Why not give players an option. Like down on dpad can mute and unmute chat. And PVP should always have an option for chat
-
I agree with Bungies approach.
-
Deej we are dying for info please answer on the status of this

This game lack communication means and that's the only real flaw crippling this great game. Clan members should be accessible ingame. Add at least a text chat During beta playtime I felt alone sometime. Was quite odd and unsettling =\
-
+1, it made the whole game world feel dull and lifeless, other players merely felt like NPCs On a side note: It's good to be in agreeance with you for a change =P
-
This game is not perfect, just not all what someone don't like can be called a flaw or should be expected at launch. The lack of communication for me is a actual flaw
-
Same it makes no sense at all to me.
-
Don't change it. You guys are totally right about it ruining people's experience. I absolutely do not want other chat options. People have the opportunity to have chat if they'd like to. If someone doesn't respond to them then they just don't want to talk to them. Please don't change it

An on and off switch would fix your issue
-
Sending an invite to your Fireteam fixes your issue and there's no need to add anything to the game. This is a lot simpler than adding a feature that would, almost, automatically exclude players from just about all social interaction this game has to offer. The 'Fireteam only' system provides a very clear starting point for the interaction. An 'always on' system drops people into the middle of what may be an inappropriate, offensive, or non-game-related conversation that could totally ruin the experience of an individual player. The clear starting point also has the potential to offer a smoother, more organic, social interaction. And one, from my experience in the beta, that stays more about the game and the ingame objectives. These things are important to me and to many others that are even less inclined to be outwardly social than I. I'm not opposed to additions to the system as it was in the beta; I've been in many conversations about this very topic(more than any other topic on this forum). I just think that it was great the way it was in the beta and I hope little, if anything, has been changed about it come release.
