That wouldn't work because Destiny is an always-online game. Even when you're doing story missions you're still in an online game where other people can randomly show up. The best thing for you to do is get to a safe place to hide.

  • That's not true. It's online persistent world ONLY when you are in the public area. When you take off onto a mission in the darkness (one life) it is NOT a persistent world any longer. This is evidenced by people who aren't in your fire team suddenly disappearing as you cross the threashold. They can't randomly join in. The only way is if A) you invite them to your fire team or B) you are playing a strike or other public mission which is explicitly called out in the nav screen. It is further evidenced as not persistent by the fact that the board completely resets when you eat it. Pausing the game in a single mission would have ZERO impact on the wider world. In fact there are technical pause points in missions already in the game. They are trigger events. If you are in a mission and don't trigger the event you can stand there forever and nothing will happen. PLEASE implement a pause button for single players. I get not having one in public spaces but in lone missions they are a MUST. I have a real life and that real life take priority over gaming. If I have to start a mission over every time my life intervenes then this game, despite how much I like it, is going in the trade in pile. NEED A PAUSE BUTTON

  • It would work if the mode was created. No one said I wasn't pleased it's called options.

Or Bungie could add a "Lone Wolf" mode so people could opt out of playing with strangers and friends. That way players who choose to wouldn't need to be online and they could pause the game.

  • Right. If you wanna play a mission at your own pace with no one dropping in and out the option should exist.

  • Or, you could just disconnect your console from the internet. Pause still wouldn't work(most likely) but you wouldn't be sociable anymore. I still prefer the way it is, it just fits perfectly with how Destiny is designed. Considering it's designed for you to connect with other players. Oh well, you can't please everyone.
