Hand cannons seem to have gotten a slight buff but not near enough. Why would I choose a hand cannon versus a scout rifle when they have pretty much the same damage per shot but one has almost twice as many rounds and a higher rate of fire and both equally accurate if the scout rifle is not more accurate or at least a little easier to aim. The hand cannon can't even get a one shot kill head shot on level 8, granted the scout rifle cannot either but with the limitations the hand cannon has ammo/ROF wise I think it should be a lot more powerful. Literally not enough bang for my buck on the hand cannon. Maybe there are better ones in the full game? But right now they are still resembling what should be a "secondary weapon" not a special but a secondary. Like an "oh no I'm out if rounds in my primary better switch to the last ditch effort to make it outta this!"
Any other opinions on these so called "cannons"?

I like them for pve, but I think they're just outclassed in pvp by SRs.
-
I experimented with hand cannons a bit this past weekend....it was okay but I saw myself always switching back to my scout rifle.
-
I like the hand cannons. I find it fun to use. And to kill people in pvp... Just cuz. But tbh there is no denying it's outclassed currently. However I approach it as training my use with the golden gun. The more accurate I get with my hand cannon. The better my aim with the golden gun will be.

they look cool but if you cant aim you gonna fail and the dmg is to low should be 1hit weapon liek golden gun xD

Hand Cannon + Bladedancer will be superb. Suits a close quarters stealth loadout.

Edited by Postman Garlic: 7/22/2014 6:28:00 PMJust change the name to pistols and drop the bombastic name. I mean its obviously a pistol. Not a hand cannon. Pistols is always a last resort in games like this imho. Also, no use in even looking at a lvl8 weapon when you are missing 12 more lvls.

You should be able to dual wield then id use them.

I started playing with a hand cannon the night the beta closed down, it is the most fun I've had with a weapon in Destiny. If you use it right it's amazing in PvP, but in PvE it could stand an upgrade.

Edited by TomatoDragon: 7/22/2014 8:29:19 PMI'm not gonna complain at a slight buff. It's been the only primary weapon ive used in both alpha and beta. Forcing myself to get good and hit nothing but head with it cause I love revolvers. Pleeeaaassseee...give us the ability to fan them.

Edited by run: 7/24/2014 8:43:06 AMOk this is how I use hand cannons I LOVE the in PvE I get headshots for days and the hunter head shot reload perk makes it amazing. Now in PvP on the other hand... It's lack luster, I could use a boost. I find my self just using a pulse or auto rifle instead. So I'd go with PvE hand cannon. PVP auto or pulse or scout. EDIT But I have been practicing with it and it can do major damage but just really needs a boost. Now I ether I use a pulse/auto or a hand cannon 50/50 depending on my mood.

Edited by Rater: 7/24/2014 11:15:44 AMFavorite weapon in the game. Just wish it didn't take me seven years to reload it after firing 6 rounds.

I honestly don't like them. They are slow and take way too long to reload, especially when fallen are zerg rushing you.

Edited by Dingo9012: 7/25/2014 1:11:54 AMOkay, so I re-rolled my Hunter and my Titan to make them prettier and this time through I played solely with the Hand Cannon on my Hunter from start to finish (with the exception of the prologue mission of course.). I found that the longer I was on my Hunter, the more I changed the way I played...I'd take more time, float the reticule across the mob and squeeze off a round for a Precision hit each time...and you know what...It STILL needs a damage boost! You just don't have enough ammunition in the magazine to wipe out a bunch of dregs and vandals as easily as you can with other primary weapons. Unless the Hand Cannon gets a slight increase in both precision and normal damage, I can't see myself ever using one except when Golden Gun is active. And I know we Hunter's get the smexy throwing knife/knives later on and they do make up for the lack of killing power the Hand Cannon Hunter possesses, but other classes get a melee too right? Why should HC-Hunters have to rely on their melee to balance out a primary weapon? But meh...enough of my rant for the night, anyone else got a sob story about the Hand Cannon? Perhaps one ran over your dog? Killed your Goldfish? Stole your first Girlfriend or Boyfriend? Because as they are right now they suck that badly I wouldn't be surprised!

It takes me two headshots to kill a fallen, one for scout rifle
-
Increase clip size slightly and increase reload speed and that should fix it.
-
Glad they got moved to primary...not special enough to be a special...feels just right on the primary for me
-
It needs a faster ROF and 0 recoil, also a huge fix to it's stupidly long reload speed.
-
They're weak.
-
I say give it a close range reticle like the shotgun, reduce the effective range, and up the damage close to a sniper rifle.
-
They have gotten a buff? I only use it once in the Alpha and ditched it ever since. Too little ammo count as a primary weapon for me

Right now I'm diggin' the Searcher MK .20. I feels pretty cool/sweet/gratifying popping skulls into a Fallen Rave*. (*Fallen Rave def. - Headshots that cause the heads of Fallen to illicit lights and screams ) yes, I made this term up. )

I only have experience with the common (white quality) HC and I must admit I was a bit disappointed. Imo there are two things that can balance the HC in PVE: 1. Increase the dmg slightly so you can kill in one (head)shot (I often have the target at 5% after the first shot) 2. Increase the maximun ammo capacity because if you have to shoot twice every target you'll run out of bullets really quick especially in the area's where you can't always run around to pick up ammo because it's swarmed with enemy mobs (e.g. boss fights) Hopefully it's just a common HC problem and that the uncommon or beter quality HC will feel just right, because I love being a badass gunslinger ^^

I think the problem is that if you're greeted by a selection of weapons that all do similar or the same damage in many cases (Like the start of the beta) then most weapons beat the hand cannon. If I could choose between a 20 damage hand cannon or a 20 damage auto-rifle, I'll go for the auto-rifle, easily, because every bullet the rifle fires in it's magazine of (let's say 20 bullets) is going to do the same damage as every bullet a hand cannon fires from it's round of 6 bullets. I feel they have to up the damage and reload speed for it truly be equal to the power of other weapons that do similar damage. But, obviously, that's just my opinion, and I know lots of you will have different opinions. :)

From hands on experience i believe hand canons beads to be a weaker sniper riffle with less range and acuracy 3 shots to 4 shots body Or 2 shots to the head The other variant is a more revolver-esk fix. That instead the damage as is is fine but it fires as fast as the trigger is pulled

The meh option, where is it? I vote meh
