Story Interface Idea

So I recently started doing videos of my gameplay experiences. I did nearly 30 during the Destiny Alpha, and have had some interesting comments. This one though, I thought was worth sharing. I know it's a little late in the game for Bungie to make large changes to the game, but since Destiny is a long term investment for them, maybe something to think about? Here is the comment and my reply as posted on my channel: KillMarioKill Average Fragger - 41 minutes ago (edited)LINKED COMMENT: Great vids ! Awesome to be able to experience the Alpha through your eyes since I didn't get an invite. It's easy to see what will confuse any players who are not in an MMORPG mindset. The quest description to "Kill Dreg specimens" caught my eye right away ^_^ MMORPGs were my thing for a good while and I'm very happy to see these elements implemented well in an FPS. So pumped for the Beta ! (and here is my reply) LPGC Emperor - 1 second ago: Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed them. I see what you mean. This game is a bit of a departure from Halo. People expecting a more story mission point to point structure might be a little thrown off. This game does have story focus content, but it was selected from a menu, versus naturally moving to it though the world. Then again, this was an alpha, so that might not be the format of the final presentation. Honestly if it were my game, I would keep the menu driven approach from the alpha, for the people who wan't to jump into specific content immediately. I would also work in a more natural system if possible. Say the next 5 story missions were in Old Russia (the zone from the alpha). I would have a set markers (something interactive, like the quest beacon) in the zone to que up story content. Once finished it would drop me back into the zone where I was and set the marker somewhere else for Story part 2. That way you could do side missions while traveling to the next story mission, and have a more organic feeling to the flow of the game. Maybe I should post this idea on their feedback site. I kinda like it lol. ---- So there it is. Bungie may have already thought about this. Obviously the alpha was a very small part of the game. Judging just from my experience with the alpha, I think being able to que up story missions from open world gameplay would be a nice addition. Who knows, maybe they already have this in place, and it just wasn't available during the alpha.
