Bungie has announced the specific beta timing for its upcoming "shared-world shooter" Destiny. On July 17, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 players can begin playing the beta, which picks up from the beginning of the game and includes a handful of Story missions, a Strike mission, and a selection of PvP Crucible maps. The beta will then go offline for maintenance on Monday, July 21, and return on PS4, PS3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 on Wednesday, July 23. The beta ends on Sunday, July 27.
So now we know. The beta starts on the 17th for Playstation, that we knew, and then on the 23rd it starts for Xbox.
But what is a little shocking is that it ends on the 27. A measly 10 days for Playstation, and 4 days for Xbox. I figured Bungie would want us to test it longer, but i won't complain, it is better than nothing.
We now also know how much the collectors editions will be.
Ghost Edition: $149.99

A steelbook disc case and disc copy of the game
-A field manual with "handwritten" notes
-An "antique" star chart
-A Guardian folio
-4 postcards from the Golden Age (i.e. Earth before the Darkness decimated it)
-The Destiny Expansion Pass ($34.99 value; good for Expansion I and Expansion II)
-Collector's Edition Digital Content (an in-game Ghost skin, player emblem, and ship skin)
-And the centerpiece: a life-size replica of the Ghost robot, complete with lights and Peter Dinklage dialogue samples.
Limited Edition: $99.99
Everything in the Ghost edition, except the replica of the ghost.
Digital Edition: $89.99
Expansion pass: $34.99 (for two expansions)
In a video in the above article they say that the expansion packs will contain "new armor, weapons, story missions, and new content for every mode. So that means that that we will get new strikes, maps in multiplayer, and new raids. With new missions.
Thoughts fellow forum goers?

-
LET THE CONSOLE WARS BEGIN ..... Again .
-
What is this "Early access to Vanguard Armory" all about on the digital edition?
-
Wow, PlayStation gamers get 9 days to enjoy the beta while Xbox gamers only get 4 days. I'm sorry but this really ticks me off. Happy Bungie day, yeah rite. This ruined my bungie day.

Edited by Darthever: 7/7/2014 4:42:30 PMWait, so does the digital edition include EVERYTHING in the collectors edition (DLC wise?) and will it be coming to Xbox One? The video and description wasn't very clear :/

Edited by Aelius: 7/7/2014 4:43:02 PMHey guys, were sorry we gave sony all the attention for a bit. we still love you :)... It's Bungie Day! and you guys at Xbox get to play the beta for 4 days... and sony shall play for 8 days. This is my favorite day of the year, now tainted.

Lame.
-
Ghost Edition is basically the LE but with a Ghost replica, yes?
-
They've been working so hard on the beta from what I gather from DeeJ. Why limit the playtime to just a few days??
-
Where did u see the edition prices??
-
Atleast we can play the beta
-
Expansion pass: $34.99
Yeah, no. Half the price of a retail game for a few extra missions? Lol
-
Edited by thottie: 7/7/2014 4:23:08 PMI like you put a "measly 10 days for ps" and then 4 (closer to 3) days for xbox like that's OK
-
It lasts until the 26th O_o.
-
So that was bungie day lol what a waste of time haha
-
except it isn't -the game shuts down on the 26th at midnight -the beta will be shut down on the 21st and 22nd so scrub 2 days off of the PS time -it says the codes will Start to go out on those days( i'm thinking that not everyone will get their codes right away)
-
It's a dick move, especially to Xbox players. "Enough time to enjoy the Beta" my ass

So much for loving everyone equally, I didn't mind the exclusive content, because there is so little of it, but 4 days is really just a slap in the face. I wanted to try all three classes at level 20, but I guess only PS users will know that feeling. Oh well, at least it all gets wiped or then there really would be hell to pay.
