Well, as this video explains, Guardians have been resurrected from the dead by either the Traveler or Ghosts. I think that adds an entirely new layer to Destiny's lore, and definitely something I don't think anyone saw coming. What will this mean? How will this effect the story? I think Bungie did something really cool with this and I am excited to see how this plays out in the game's final build.
This would mean that Instead of being a new Guardian with vasts amounts of potential and the light of the Traveler, you're something else entirely. Titans you play as ARE the Titans who died defending the wall. Hunters you play as ARE the first Guardians to explore the frontier. Warlocks in Destiny ARE the first Guardians to Harness the light of the Traveler.
Maybe throughout the story you find out about your past life. Maybe you unlock a dark secret or something bad about the Traveler. Maybe you find a way to bring back the Traveler. I can't wait to see what Bungie does with this.
So, what do you think about Zombie Guardians? Do you like the concept? Do you not like it? Did it catch you off guard? Tell me what you think in the comments below. I really want to see the community's reaction to this. Thanks, Zombie Guardians!

I think that it is the ultimate character immersion because that dead guy is you.

Everybody is assuming that these resurrected guardians are warriors who died during the collapse, but what if instead the guardians are warriors who the ghosts have selected from humanities history? A resurrected WW2 war hero fighting side by side with a Roman Legionary giving cover fire to a Medieval Knight? I hope that is the case, it would be too cool to even comprehend.

It might be the first shooter to explain how we respawn

I see it as Bungie's way of further making the point that YOU are the character. You're not just playing a role like an actor, but that you are literally a guardian. Today you're just a gamer, then 700 years from now you're resurrected in order to save humanity as a guardian.

1) it's a good way to explain how we respawn 2) it's a good way to explain why so many guardians have arisen to take up the fight and as to why any single guardian isn't the 'saviour' like other MMO/RPG/FPS games make the lead role out to be. 3)being one of the ancient dead gives RP people a large time window to create a backstory your character could be from 1700's all the way up to whatever year it is in-game.
