While we had some snowfall in the Alpha in Old Russia I noticed no real weather patterns for the Tower.
Some clouds and the occasional mist, but nothing really substantial. One of the best moments in large simulated environments is weather effects.
Rain, fog, snow, and thunder storms would add some nice ambience to the Tower and some of its local bars and covered areas.
Also the Vanguard Window has some spectacular vistas that would be fun to see in a rain storm.
Some would say why? Of course?
But out of all of GTA V's nonsense when a storm crops up I find myself sitting in the redwoods in my car enjoying the artistry used to create the event.
Skyrim had this effect as well when a snow storm would end and you could see all of the northern coast from the College. Then it would fade once again into the snow fall.
Those little weather effects leave lasting impressions. Hopefully such touches will add to the experience of wandering the Tower and the Hall of Guardians when the full game releases.

The Traveler could stop weather patterns above the City, that's a plausible reason why they may not add weather change in the City

Thinking back...have anyone here played a PvP match on a map that has weather effects like rain or snow that dampens your view of the map/enemy? Sure there have been snow maps and desert maps but did any of them have weather that affected your vision? Cuz that'd be pretty awesome in my opinion. Especially if sometimes the maps didn't have weather effects and then other times it did.

Edited by NOBLE SIX: 6/23/2014 8:58:08 AMGreat idea. I think the tower could use a few additions: 1) Your suggestion of weather effects 2) the ability to opt into a public chat where everyone who opts in can hear each other and push to talk 3) A terminal that features weekly messages from Bungie

Edited by Dirtymurph: 6/25/2014 8:01:50 AMIf there is rain then I want a Rihanna Guardian to come out half naked singing the Umbrella song.
-
Rain???? I want hurricanes and tornados!
-
Wait, this got me thinking, wouldn't the travler make a water fall or a bunch of spouts of water roll off of it
-
I would love this.
-
I want rain when I'm dominating enemies with my Titan!
-
The tower would likely be dome-covered to prevent disturbance from outside sources. Sorry if this was mentioned; that's a lot to read :P
-
Well I did notice a few puddles of water at the tower, so I think it's safe to say that we haven't seen all the weather effects yet.

Nope, Not in the Last City. The Traveler is really the universe's most expensive air conditioning unit. It keeps the entire city a clean 86°F in the day, Sunny with a 5mph cross wind. It also blocks out the rain, harmful UV rays, cleans the smog out of the air from all of the space ships flying to and fro, and at night the Traveler lets the temperature drop to a crisp 72°F. Just cool enough to merit a blanket.
-
Clearly the Traveler can control the weather and clearly the Traveler likes mildly hopeful sunny vistas.
-
I've always hated games that would have non-stop rain. I mean yeah, it's cool but don't overdo it.
-
I am hoping that we get weather effects by the time the game launches as well. Heck even snow during Christmas time would be awesome.
-
Why not a dance floor cuz destiny has emotes and dancing is one of them hehe

Edited by A Wild Soffish: 6/24/2014 12:16:59 AMYeah... playing AC4 when I'd finished the story and was just hunting down collectibles, I would often just stand still in a rainstorm and admire the beauty of the world. Weather is pretty awesome.

Edited by JohnGalt: 6/23/2014 7:46:35 PMShort peridoic moments or events where, outside, The Darkness swarms an area and the only sight available to you is supplied by your ghost and the slight glimmer of other guardians that brighten as they get closer to you and illuminate a limited area. Enemies are stronger for the period of time the darkness exists. Strength of the pack style....
But weather effects at the tower would be great.
As a long time fan of Bungie particle effects, I approve of this thread. Doo eet Bungie, the way only you know how to.

Yes please!

A glorious lightening storm would be nice.

Sounds good I agree hope the developers are thinking about this
-
Alpha. I'm sure that they'll having stuff like that in the full game
-
I did notice that there was almost never a change in weather when I was playing.
