Xbox's Silver Lining and an End to Arguing

In light if the recent announcement and subsequent arguments over the exclusive Destiny content for PS4, there is a silver lining for those of us on Xbox. Destiny is, among many things, about creating a Guardian. What this exclusive content effectively does is make the vast majority of people on PS4 start their journeys the same way. They've simply hand-picked some weapons and armor from the game to give to PS4 players at the start. This hurts the individuality of the game in a way because instead of fufilling the idea of seeing a Guardian's achievements by just looking at them, you'll see a lot of players (originally) sporting the "exclusive" content. You might be saying, "Well once you level up people will wear better armor and use better weapons", but the thing is Xbox players don't have to deal with any of that. Our experience will be as authentic, vanilla, and realistic to lore as it can possibly be, and to me that's just as valuable as having exclusives that most PS4 players will be eager to take off after a few hours of gameplay, especially considering how ideological and devoted we are to Bungie here on their forums. This is definately an optimistic, glass half-full view, but to all Xbox players, just forget about the exclusive content and only worry about Xbox. You won't notice it's gone because it was never there in the first place. And to all the PS4 players, rub the exclusives in our face, you've earned the right. I genuinely hope you enjoy Destiny and the exclusives you receive, and I welcome you to the Bungie family. It's been a long time coming. This argument over exclusive content it exactly as if the Xbox players are the older sibling who is being "ignored" by their parents for a newborn sibling. In reality, the parents are only trying to nurture the baby and establish a relationship. I hope Xbox players can take a step back and understand why Bungie is doing what they're doing; after ten years of unaccomodation for the Playstation, they throw themselves with arms wide open at them to welcome them. We're better than this. Or at least we used to be. Can we end this argument and get ready for the Beta? Its less than a month away and we cannot have a house divided, for Bungie's sake.

First off, I'm an Xbox player so my view of this is certainly biased, but here's my two cents on the situation. Yes, Bungie should fully support the Play Station consoles. Yes they should make sure their relationship with the Play Station Community is secure, but will giving exclusive access of the Alpha, an early Beta, and gear to the Play Station players make that bond stronger? Absolutely. But you know what would have made the Play Station community love Bungie the same way the Xbox community has? Just making a good game for EVERYONE to play. I don't think PS4 players would turn away from the game just because people on Xbox played the Alpha at the same time, started the beta at the same time, or got the same pre-order gear. There are a few things I can understand though. The Alpha exclusivity could be purely because they want to slowly introduce players to test server strength (an apparently growing problem with recent game releases); same thing for early beta access. However, the one thing I don't quite understand is the secrecy behind the Xbox Beta date. As most gamers know, the word "soon" can indicate a wide variety of time frames. I don't mind the waiting; in fact I think I enjoy that the most, but id like to know how long I'm waiting. Right now I have the 17th marked on my calendar, but I know that when that day comes around I will not get to take in the magnificent view of the city that rests below the Traveler, or challenge hordes of Fallen amongst the rusted wreckage littered throughout Old Russia. In the meantime I'll be watching live streams of Play Station players yet again starting their beautiful journey as Guardians of the last city, and every streamer will say "I know this game looks good, but you really can't truly understand and enjoy Destiny until you get hands on yourself!". I mean is to too much to ask that your Xbox fans get something? Even an approximate date for the Xbox Beta would suffice. I know the game will role around eventually and we'll all begin our journey to become Legend, but I'm concerned that because of Bungie's deal with Play Station, this exclusiveness is only the beginning. I'd like to hope that eventually everyone will be on the same page with DLC release dates, but that seems unlikely. I get it, the fact that Bungie has to focus on the Play station community for several reasons, but could you at least give the Xbox fans something, anything, to show that you love us just as much as we love you? Anyway, that's how I feel, and I'd bargain to say that most Xbox players feel the same way.
