I said this on a similar thread, but If Harold is the problem then he needs to go. I mean what reason on earth could he have to fire Marty, much less deny him money owed. And where do Jason Jones and other staff have to say about all of this? Are people afraid of losing their jobs now? Is that the kind of place Bungie is now? I hope not. Jo Staten leaving and now this is making me wonder what is happening at Bungie under Harold's leadership.

  • I don't think there's any reason to believe Staten left on less-than-friendly terms. He gave a very nice farewell statement to the community.

  • We don't know if he left good or in bad terms, although before when Bungie was under Microsoft, you can see Joe Staten being one of those Bungie employees that was not happy to belong to Microsoft, then when his part of Destiny is over, he suddenly leaves and later joins Microsoft, which like I said before, he was one of the Bungie employees that showed not to be happy being employed under Microsoft. I could add to this Marcus Letho, a few months before he "left" Bungie, he was stating how exciting was watching Destiny taking shape, then some time later, he "left" Bungie to chase new adventures, though in his personal blog, he made some posts to be worried about him not being at Bungie anymore. He is a family man, why would he leave Bungie to chase other dreams and yet post in his blog that he wasn't sure the decision was the right choice? Like I said, weird stuff has been happening with Bungie. I wonder if they are starting to worry about money and not caring to the loyalties of their friends who shaped Bungie?

  • Blame activision, remember they're the ones who fired all of the original members of Infinity Ward just a day before they were due their bonuses for selling so many MW2 copies.

  • But Activision doesn't own Bungie?

  • True but Activision doesn't outright own Bungie like they do Infinity Ward. Although, that being said, I'd have to image that $500,000,000 brings with it a lot of influence.

  • Both of them also spent 10+ years with Bungie. That's a long time to stick with the same company, especially in the game industry. It seems reasonable to me that they felt it was time to move on to new pastures. Nothing sinister, at least not based on what we know.

  • True, but I also spent 10+ years with a company that I once loved, but certain people in charge made me decide that it was no longer the company that I hired on with all those years ago and forced me to move on to something else. And I even had nice things to say after I left insisting that it was me and not them, which to an extent was true I guess, I was the one that decided to leave to avoid working with those people any further, but had those people either not been there or simply not acted the way they did and not treated me the way they did then I most likely would have never left. That's ultimately my question; Is someone (or multiple people) the reason for the recent exodus of such well known Bungie employees? I've seen it happen myself so I know it's not out of the question.

  • It doesn't match with their behaviors and statements. Like I said, M. Letho posted on his personal blog not being happy "leaving" Bungie, and he was fearful that decision was the wrong choice, that feels like he was somewhat convinced to leave, even though before that, he stated in a tweet how happy he was watching Destiny taking shape. O'Donnell got fired with out a reason. Joe Staten had a sudden leave, then after stating not liking being under Microsoft, he joins them later. Doesn't add up at all.

  • What I would really pay money to hear, due to their ever-low-key nature, are the opinions of the Bungie couple. The McLees', of course. I would take their word as gospel. Don't ask me why, I just have a gut feeling that they would know exactly what is happening.
