I don't take sides in politics and blindly follow either party. I like to read and research what I'm getting into before getting into it.
My friend that posted this is currently getting ready to get sent to the Army. However, when I saw this, I had to do a bit of research. According to the official US Army website, the lowest paygrade (E1) for the minimum amount of time in the Army is around $18k/year. Sounds low right? The federal minimum wage is only $15k/year in the USA. That is lower than what the lowest paid serviceman in the Army gets paid. If we took into account bills and other services, the lowest paid serviceman would be paid a bit more than a person on minimum wage.
This is a by monthly basis. This is not an official website, so it may be inaccurate. This is for the Navy, which is by a monthly basis, so it may seem low, but it doesn't take into account the "other" raises, just a flat base rate.
So, in essence, the original picture I showed you is false. It's propaganda from the extreme far right (This picture was from the Tea Party page), which makes an outstanding statement, but with a little research and time, you can find out if it's false or not. The picture endorsed by the official Tea Party page of the USA posted this and I can say that it's false.
I have begun looking at the political parts of my town and its elections. I find it more as a hobby and something interesting to do: Finding propaganda and researching about it. Do you have any experiences in the political world? For me, I helped participate in the local elections here by sorting the ballots by county and counting them out. I have also been to a few of the events here where the local politicians try to sway potential voters to vote for them. It's pretty fun.

Edited by Ad Hoc: 5/13/2014 7:54:36 AMEven if it was true, it would still be stupid. Of course, the military is important and we need them, but we also need people to put burgers on buns. Almost every job has its place and is important in some way or another. I don't ask that fry cooks, or anyone else, be paid an exorbitant amount of money, but everyone should be given a living wage. That being said, I could rant about political propaganda all day, especially on the Conservative side. But for the sake of time, I'll stick to what irks me the most: The Republican party's Obsession with degrading educated people and organizations. Climate Change is where I see it worst. Seriously, who do you think knows more about climate? Politicians, or thousands of scientists who were trained specifically TO STUDY THE -blam!-ING CLIMATE? But people still buy into their bullshit. They actually convince people that it's a Liberal conspiracy to push Socialism and control our lives. I even know people who think the Earth continuously makes oil so we'll never run out. It's not hard to realize that they're being lobbied by big oil, car companies, etc, etc to say what they say-- but some people are clearly just really, REALLY absurdly stupid. Degrading universities and professors is pretty common too. I listen to Conservative radio every day, and they're frequently discouraging people from sending their kids to college, claiming they're "propaganda machines that turn teens into Liberals". No, they teach people to think critically, which is clearly not something members of the Republican party do. What does it say about a group of people when they actively try to stop people from education themselves? It says that their philosophy is so -blam!-ing paper thin that they need stupid people to believe in it.
