Let's Talk About the Bad Attitudes of Offtopites

So I keep seeing this '#density' thing, and I can't help but feel it's something five year olds would persist in. It's a statement where you are calling into question the intellect of an incredibly broad group of people solely because of group-think. Group-think with each other though, not on the part of the #destiny forum. In a thread just now, I saw somebody rationalize it by saying 'well the same threads pop up a lot!' ... To this I have to ask... have any of you actually been on the internet before? Since when are repeated topics something exclusive to one particular group of people, or one game? I see the same exact topics in the #offtopic forum every single day. Yet I don't see folks going #jerkofftopic. In fact, looking at the Destiny forum right now what do I see? I see a thread comparing sales, a voice actor thread, article discussion, potential ARG discussion, community discussion, fan art discussion, RPG element discussions, Easter Egg discussions, race aesthetic discussion, Beta discussion, group searching, faction discussion, micro-transaction discussion, cross-platform discussion, additional features discussion, and more. That's a pretty large variety of discussion for one page. What do I see on #Offtopic? An 'I am leaving' post, five 'AMA' threads, two religion threads, two political threads, music threads, hypothetical scenario threads, anime thread, and a couple sports threads. While a fair number of the threads in #Offtopic are ''troll'' threads, whereas the only ones of those in #Destiny are... you guessed it- made by people that post regularly in the #Offtopic forum. I'm starting to see a pattern. What it comes down to is both, I think, stupidity and hypocrisy combined. The hypocrisy previous mentioned, and the stupidity stemming from an ignorance of how the internet actually works. Hence the feeling that these people are nearly the age of five, because I feel confident none of the intelligent Offtopites would be resorting to such things. To be blunt, #Offtopic has tons of repeat topics and terrible quality posts. And guess what? It is like any other forum around. The users there are not more intelligent, just typically longer in the community since most people go to a game developer's forum to discussion the game rather than random things, so when people do go into those random things they tend to be more invested whereas people in the gaming forums come and go. So when I see a post going just '#density' with the user thinking they're clever about it, I think to myself that is not a good user, they are not contributing to the community and, in fact, the community would be better off without their presence. For instance, if a thread is in the wrong forum, you don't just post #destiny or #gaming and leave it. Tell them what is up, and answer the question. Do you really expect people to be responsive to others being rude to them? If you do, then you lack the most basic of social skills. It's about being helpful at that point to prevent that same person from making the mistake again. And referring to a large group of people by a derogatory term is just bigoted. So yes. I'll sleep now, and I may have rambled, but feel free to discuss.
