What Are Your Views On Psychedelics?

Welp, as many of you all know, I am a huge supporter for the legalization of Cannabis, but I am also a very big supporter of psychedelics. That being psilocybin, LSD, Mescalin, Salvia, DMT, ect. When I say LSD I don't mean any of the fake research chemicals going around these days such as DOx's, NBOMe's, 2C's, ect. They can damage the brain severely. But as for true psychedelics, I feel like they can be very helpful and life changing. They open your mind and allow you see things in a different perspective upon yourself and the world around you that couldn't regularly see. LSD has also been used to help people suffering from addiction with alcohol and heroin, as well as people with mental disorders. Many addicts are known to lower their drinking amounts or never drink alcohol again after experiencing a larger dose of pure LSD. http://www.nature.com/news/lsd-helps-to-treat-alcoholism-1.10200 DMT has helped people completely change their lives around. Ayahuasca, which is found more commonly in the amazon has been gaining a lot of popularity lately. More and more Americans are traveling to the amazon to partake in the shamanic ritual to help cleans out any problems they have been facing. I don't see them as a party type of drug and should not be used as one or used often. They are meant to be used periodically. It holds consequences if used improperly or irresponsibly. It is nothing to be taken lightly. However, the incredible insight that it holds, makes the trip so wonderful and such an amazing learning process. I have no problem with anyone who wouldn't like to take psychedelics because it just isn't for everyone. But for the people who do partake in the psychedelics, more power to ya! What are your views on psychedelics? What do you think of them and the way they've took part in our would? What are they to you?

  • Pure LSD is fine , problem is it's often mixed and then shit hits the roof.

  • These drugs can be quite dangerous if not used properly, and while I feel that they should be legal I'm apprehensive at the thought of people having easy access to use them recreationally.

    • I'd never take them, but I don't mind if people do as long as they don't get dangerous. Doesn't seem like a good life decision though.

I look back at my time with them as some of the most introspective, fun, and enlightening times of my life. More than once I found myself viewing life, my place in it, faith, friendship, my future, etc. in a different way after a night with them. Some of those views still stick with me today. But it's not for everyone. And it's something that absolutely no one should be coerced into trying.

        • I'm more of an uppers guy. I don't see much of an issue with any drug use as long as it is not too frequently (other than weed, w/e), and it's not being done in a situation in which harm could be done to others

Is LSD a form of acid? Or vice versa? EDIT - After some research on acid, and finding out that it actually doesn't harm you or have any addictive properties (other than dopamine release), I am considering trying it. I've only smoked reefer once, but I was drunk so I can't really distinguish which was doing what, but a pure psychedelic sounds nifty. Especially since, what I've researched at least, it's not harmful and actually is good for depressed patients. That could help me.

I've never done any psychedelics, but I support legalization completely. I do plan on trying them soon, just haven't had a chance yet. Just noticed this thread was necro'd and I've already posted in it

            • I will agree that pot needs legalized. Although LSD and the likes aren't addictive. They are extremely dangerous drugs, you can seriously just forget to breathe on them and die. So I think they still need to be controlled yes.

I don't like the idea of using psychedelic drugs for recreation. Intentionally disturbing a fine-tuned system when you have no idea of what you're doing, for the sole sake of pleasure, is one of the stupidest things you can do. These drugs don't "unlock" the potential of the human mind, they do not give you a "glimpse" of your God, or what-have-you. They disrupt a fine-tuned system: the human body. You literally live in your head--you get feedback from the outside world via your sensory organs, and cognitive processes compile them into your "world". When you use drugs to disrupt the normal cognitive processes you're merely getting a relatively distorted image of the world. It's not truth, it's not enlightenment, it's not religious, it's merely a distortion.

I'm completely in support of them. Unfortunately though, one of my friends has absolutely wrecked his brain because of acid.

                    • Done prolly between 400-500 hits of LSD, if you are emotionally weak and easily tricked, stay away, if you arent and looking to experience reality in a different perception, give it a go with friends to watch over you.

                      • I really don't care what people put in their own bodies. Although I don't do any of that stuff, it's not my business normally what others do. That being said, if it is made legal, people are only allowed to use the stuff within their own homes (or at a friends'). They should not even be able to leave their homes until they are sober. This insures that if anything bad happens, it's your stuff getting trashed, and nobody else gets hurt by your decisions. For example how cops don't care if you get completely wasted, drinking at your own home. (As long as you don't bother any neighbors).

                      • I'm all for them if used responsibly and in moderation. I've taken mushrooms before and loved them. I can't explain why, but for some reason my thought process seemed a little clearer after I'd taken them. I'd love to do them again at some point, and some LSD too There are other sites with this info too. Google "scientists who used drugs"

                      • I've only tried shrooms and i thought they were incredible. I dont really have a way to get any so i cant really say how i really feel about them yet but so far what ive seen and researched, the positives outweigh the negative greatly.

Psychedelics are a touchy subject. While the majority can use and enjoy them with no problems, some even having profound life-changing epiphanies while on them (Steve Jobs), a small minority simply do not have the mental capacity to handle them. Be it chemical composition of the particular person's brain, current emotional state, or some other unknown factor, some people really, really need to avoid them. Problem is.. there's really no way of knowing if you're one of those people until you're on it. And for that reason alone, I will never refer to psychedelics (or dissociatives for that matter) as "safe". But like anything, it comes down to personal choice. Personally, I hung up those shoes a long time ago, but I don't regret any of it.
