  • I just hope all the music was finished. -.- Now the destiny sequel's music isn't going to be comparable. Or the last part of Destiny, and future DLC won't be the same audio-wise. .-. If this has something to do with Activision, or some kind of stupid greed, I'm going to be pissed. Since Bungie has pushed that they are a company solely built on making amazing games for people since their emergence. It just does not correlate within my mind. Was there discrepancy? Was Marty being treated unfairly? Is the board of directors selling out like CoD Companies just for cash? :/ I think we deserve to know. Instead of some tersely written set of paragraphs that explain nothing. And if it is illegal to state, I hope something leaks soon. So we at least know WHY.

  • Did Marty have relations with deejs sister or something? Its a bummer to see him go but i'm sure destiny and other master pieces from bungie will be just as successful., Marty thank you for you're fantastic contribution to gaming, as I recall my halo sound tracks my hair stands on end as it did when it heard it back when. Me and my uncle played so much halo CE, I only wish he were still here to play destiny with me, RIP dale molnar

    • Marty! My favorite Bungie member! Please tell me he left, he wasn't fired? If he was fired, that was -blam!-ED UP! He lead this company to rhythmic success from when it began!

    • Marty's soul soaring scores, unparalleled and sublime in any mediem, and musical genius is enough for me to judge who is to blame in his inexcusable firing. It seems that Goddamn pencil pushers have taken over the Bungie I used to love. Why don't you hire Justin Bieber to do the score from now on? I'm sure your Asshole "Bored of Dictators" would see this as a brilliant idea, a way to get the tween girl demographic into Destiny. For an artistic geniuses like Marty to be discarded in this despicable fashion by Bungie makes me sick to my stomach, and relieved I did not pre-order Destiny yet.

      • This is the moment I'll mention when they ask about when I knew about the beginning of the end of bungie. Come on! I'm listening to halo 3 music right now, this is sad for me.

      • Don't bullsh*t us. You, as a company, "terminated him without cause", yet you play it off as if he is resigning.

      • Maybe it's just wishful thinking, but I kinda wish Marty would replace Neil Davidge. Nothing against Davidge, of course, but Marty and Mike are the sound of Halo. BTW, I am deeply disappointed in the (hopefully) few community members who think Paul McCartney will ruin the Destiny soundtrack. He is a legend and demands much more gracious respect than what I've seen. Anyway, RIP Marty's career with Bungie, it will be missed as much as Joe Staten.

I'd ask for an option to turn off any of McCartney's music so I don't have to listen, but I suspect it's too late in the development process for that... That man will NEVER compete with O'Donnell's work and has no business being involved.

          • I don't think remaining silent was a good idea. It's obvious they are expecting this to blow over and normal service to resume, which I find disrespectful. I think people would have preferred to have this whole ugly shitfest put behind us by Bungie coming out straight and with honesty. Thoughts?

            • First off, this stinks. It really does. The soundtrack from Halo: ODST is by far my favorite Halo soundtrack EVER. I will miss the haunting, ambient tunes that O'Donnell composed. Now, to those freaking out and demanding answers; be patient. It is still early. We will probably get a real answer about this fairly soon. Some one is bound to do a story on it. Also, I see people here and there claiming that Bungie will crash and burn now because of this great loss. Like I said before, the situation sucks but let's be real for a moment. The majority of people that play Bungie titles have NO clue who O'Donnell is. The fanatics (like myself) and those that follow the development of Bungie titles know who he is (and we love him) but all of the casual players (the majority of gamers) don't know or care who produces the music of the games they play. Those of us that are upset at the loss of the artist are in a vocal minority. There are a lot of us. However, in comparison to the casual gamer that cares little about what it took to create the product then picks a game up and plays for a few weeks before moving on, we are still a minority. Bungie will endure because they are AAA developer with a solid library of highly rated games and that is what most people think about when Bungie puts their stamp on a title. The loss of an artist beloved by a core group of fans means very little where monetary profits are concerned. Maybe if things were reversed, situations like this would occur less often, alas, that is not the world we live in.

Today we say farewell to not only a legend to the Bungie community, but to a man that has forever changed the way we experience music. No matter what Mr O'Donnell does next, I wish him the best and that he enjoys what he may do next.

              • HA! late april fool's! ...right? This is honestly unacceptable. When I think of Bungie, I always think "Halo, grizzled ancients,, marty o'donnell" and then epic soundtracks for some reason. This is such a great loss for the company. I hope he quit and that he didn't get fired, I would not quite be able to live with that.

                • I think whe need an answer, This is my first post here in Bungie.net, and for me this is bad new, Marty was part of the Bungie Pack, I don't care about the future of Halo anymore,Halo 4 was a total disappointment and when I heard about destny I said "Hell if Bungie is making this I'm gonna Buy it!" because of the philoshopy Bungie has ever taught us, about us the fans and now this shit happens, I don't know what to say, I just need answers

I'm sorry, but this is just surreal. Marty fired? Seriously? And who makes up this board he mentioned in his tweet? This is crazy and dumb if for no other reason than the PR perspective. This is casting a really big, dark cloud over Bungie and Destiny just months before the games release. What is going on at Bungie these days?

                  • This deeply saddens me... Marty has been literally 50% of why Bungie games are amazing... his soundtracks are forever etched in the minds of those who fell in love with Bungie in the days for Myth 2 and Halo CE... We truly love you Marty, and this company will NEVER be the same without you my friend. Part of my love for Bungie, was the close-knit friendship that all of the "grizzled ancients" seemed to share... where is that friendship now? Did money get in the way? I just don't understand. Will his music be in Destiny now? I can only hope, but ultimately may have to resort you playing Halo CE and finding his hidden musical Easter eggs... the Myth 2 soundtrack "secret song" from Assault on the Control Room is one of the best, and you'll need a Banshee to get there. Thanks, and God bless ya Marty!
