This is absolutely awful. Dare I say it: VR is dead.

Edited by Smarkdow: 3/26/2014 2:41:10 AMThe Rock didn't care much for Oculus Rift, but the people did. The people are pissed off, and since The Rock is The People's Champion, he is also pissed off. Oculus Rift promises a virtual reality like none other. Well, The Rock promises his own reality. One that can only be delivered by the Great One. The reality is this: Mark Zuckerberg, you and Luckey and his roody pooh friends will be in a meeting over at Facebook HQ. You'll be spewing your business monkey crap with each other. Then...the doors to conference room open...and The Rock arrives, with his very own virtual reality headsets. He'll calibrate them just right...then he'll turn sumbitches sideways, AND STICK 'EM STRAIGHT UP ALL YOUR CANDY ASSES! IF YOU SMELLLLLLLLLL...! WHAT THE ROCK... IS COOKING.

This is probably good for the Oculus. It will hopefully bring down the price, improve the quality, and speed up the development process. Last year Yahoo bought tumblr for $1.1 billion. You know what they've done to tumblr? Pretty much nothing. I think it will be the same with this deal. It's weird that John Carmack is working for facebook now though.

It seems like VR won't die after all. :3 http://www.oculusvr.com/blog/introducing-michael-abrash-oculus-chief-scientist/

In my opinion the real problem - that probably will be forgotten soon - is the transparency of information. I don't want a company which sells any bit of personal data they can get to have Virtual Reality. Trough eye tracking and data records they can easily analyse the user in a deep psychological area - or plain simple guess what you are thinking with frightening precision. The line of actual privacy has long be crossed but this is like crossing the line, stomping on it, then spit on ot, contiued by stomping, throwing it crippled remnants into a furnace in full blast and then enslaving it's soul for all eternity. /conspiracy /rant

It wasn't dead before hand.

We're still a while off on that technology.

Also, with what revenue stream? Facebook sells ads....at best. Their source of income is my imagination. I bet they do their books in crayon and every year they just add a zero to the end of a number.

finally I can experience the farmville I have been waiting for

I don't think FB realized how much one of those suckers cost. What is it 200$ for scrolling on Face Book? No.
