...that Waypoint is an intolerable hellhole, and things must change if they want to accommodate the full scope of the Halo community?
No matter how "good" Halo on Xbox One is, Halo Waypoint will never be able to successfully take in nearly as many factions of this community that Bungie was able to cater to, which in my opinion was STILL not enough.
Look, I know time and time again #Gaming is spent talking about Halo, Halo 4, Waypoint, 343i, and so on so forth way too excessively, but something seriously needs to be done about the inaccessible Waypoint community and website, and I think it's time action is taken.
We need change.

Update: Before I head to bed, let it be known that I plan on making an official, well-written petition tomorrow. I'll contact a large multiple of users before publishing it. It's the best way we're going to let this issue be known, an issue that is unanimously agreed upon within the Halo community at large, not just on BNET.

Edited by Dr. Halsey's Left Arm: 2/24/2014 8:52:12 PMI frequent Waypoint a lot and I agree that there should be some changes. The layout, as it is, isn't very good. Bungie.net's layout have spoiled me for Internet forums everywhere. When it comes to something like moderation, I've been on the side of the banhammer before and it does suck. That said, I don't have as big of a problem with it as others do. Saying THAT, however, I do think a bit more uniformity on rules may help. Two example that spring to my mind regard a thread that came up after Brian Reed was promoted lead writer and the current thread discussing the Escalation comic. The Reed one ultimately came down to bans and warnings for "calling out" Reed despite the thread being up for quite a while and the Escalation one has had problems with what counts as leaks in regards to summaries of unreleased issues of the comics. Ultimately I understand why bans and warnings were issued, but I can't say I always agree with moderator decisions. I think we have to remember that the mods are just people though. Folks on Bungie.net love to talk about how awesome the mods are here, but they didn't always act as such. I've actually come to know a few of the Waypoint mods and play Halo and other games with them and they aren't terrible people. If moderating practices on Waypoint needs to change, I think the attitude of community members towards the mods should change as well. You don't have to kiss their asses, just act mature. Is that a reasonable idea or no?

Meanwhile on Waypoint....
-
Is BS Angel like their version of DeeJ or something? I honestly don't know who BS Angel is. XD
-
bs angel is a funny name.
-
Waypoint needs to have a clan page thing that would be cool so we could have like official clans in halo and maybe halo five can have a clan system similar to what cod did in ghosts
-
I pm'd her 'bout that. Now I can't log in on Waypoint anymore :P
-
The waypoint app for mobile doesn't even works
-
Did you ever think that maybe the site is run the way it is, not because BS Angel so deems it that way, but because she is told from above her how it is to be run? I don't go to Waypoint, so I really don't know. But from all the hundreds of complaints about Waypoint here on B.net it makes me wonder why people go there at all. If they do not want to hear what the Halo population has to say, then griping about it here isn't going to help anymore than them not listening there.

Edited by VIC: 2/24/2014 8:38:25 PMCaution: BS Angel and most of the Waypoint mods have accounts here so don't think that the public forum can be your safe haven to say disrespectful things about them that would violate Bungie.net's CoC. If you have criticisms, that's fine. They, like the ninjas here at Bungie.net, can handle criticism but when you dwell into the realm of personal attacks and inappropriate comments about people, you violate our CoC.
Rule 1, brah. Stuff That Sucks Personal attacks, harassment, or violations of privacy.
Play nice.

Alright, tell me what you guys think of this,
Halo Waypoint was developed by 343 Industries to be known as the central "hub of Halo," and welcome in the existing Halo community once maintained by Bungie. However, for years now despite 343i's admirable attempts to be "accessible" with their games, the Halo Waypoint website and forums are anything but that. Extremely stringent moderation, the eye-soar that is the layout, and a lack of intriguing and alluring content are what make Halo Waypoint inaccessible to the large majority of the Halo community. By signing this petition, you are asking that Halo Waypoint be reformed in the following ways: *significantly more-lenient moderation policies *the relinquishment of all permanent bans up to this point *the recognition of feedback to make Halo Waypoint visually more engaging *more appealing front-page content posts More "optional" requests include: *allowing "forum culture" to develop (usually comes with lenient moderation) *creating an off-topic forum *stopping the excessive usage of Silverlight By implementing these things, Halo Waypoint will thrive with activity, and it's notorious reputation within the Halo nation will cease to exist. Whether or not you like 343 Industries or their games, you love Halo, and by signing this petition, you can tell Halo Waypoint and its administrators that you want reform for the sake of the community at large.
Edited by Folk: 2/23/2014 10:34:07 PMBungie.net will always be the place True fans come to talk Halo...

Personally I beleive we should write a community letter about the sorry state of Waypoint and its moderators with a couple thousand signatures and send it above bs angel's head because she's part of the problem.
-
Edited by Progo: 2/24/2014 3:34:30 PMI'll sign on. PM if you need someone to plan with.
-
why are you so obsessed over halo 4 and waypoint
-
You literally post about 3 things: Halo 4 Waypoint And B.next
-
I really hate to advertise but if anyone of you want to join a Halo forum feel free to join mine. We are extremely active, productive and aren't ban happy.
-
I'm perma-banned from their pants-on-head website. I can't even view their forums or send messages.
-
Why do you even care? It's clear you just hate anything to do with them so why do you even care?

Edited by Axdinosaurx: 2/24/2014 4:35:52 AMI got banned for a month on waypoint once for saying someone (not another forum user or anyone related to Halo/MS) was an idiot. Their moderators have far too much power and are way too ban happy. Also silverlight sucks ass, be sure to mention that somewhere in that letter. Thanks much. <3

I once got dinged by moderators for criticizing a thread perpetually being revived by fanatics that couldn't accept the fact elites weren't playable. I'm talking nearly 30,000 replies 80% by the same people not letting it die. And these people were strange. I understand being passionate about a game or story, but acting like your Malcom X and I'm racist for saying they took it too seriously is insane! Atleast here we have more freedom to interact. Bungie hands us the responsibility to mute users or hide threads. And when you do they are GONE. Gone from annoying view! And mods are there for extremes like people linking porn or something.

I always kinda wanted to be a mod on there. I've never been banned and I can d-ride pretty well. I could probably make it in a few months of hardcore forum dedication.

Edited by FatMarshall: 2/24/2014 4:38:24 AMOh boy, they are here. Good thing I was just getting ready to go night-night :3 Edit: Just gonna go ahead and say that my current Waypoint username isn't my regular screenname. I'm a very good poster. Not a single ban, ever. Despite this though, I'm probably the most anti-Waypoint/343i person in existence.

Try xbox.com.

Edited by The Squatchmen: 2/24/2014 3:32:44 AMThat site needs to have a drastic over haul 1.) bring the aesthetics up to date 2.) be a tad bit more laid back (moderators) That's all I ask
-
You know what they need? A website that has a better layout. That layout (and overuse of flash) is alone, what stops me going there.
