So you think that I should not be able to push my beliefs on others? Aren't you pushing that belief on me if I disagree with you?

Edited by Malv0fAlaska: 1/23/2014 6:25:17 AMNot at all. For starters, pushing religion ( any religion) or lack thereof, is prohibited in the Constitution. Also, your post demonstrates circular logic. Just because you don't agree with someone says over the Internet (or any medium, for that matter) does not mean that they are pushing their beliefs. It seems as if your definition of pushing beliefs is extremely broad.
-
I do see how it is unconstitutional and agree with that. I don't really think it (creationism) should be taught in the public schools. But the idea that you can't and shouldn't be able to push your beliefs on others I think is stupid. If you want to push your beliefs in me go ahead. That's your right.
-
If it's my right to push my beliefs on you, you can do the same to me. Suppose your theoretical beliefs are to smash someone in the face fifty times with a hammer if they do that. By all means, go ahead and do that. But if the positions were reversed, I would have no shame in doing the same. Dumbass.
-
So Basically you are saying people should not be able to push their beliefs on others?
-
I'm saying that if you think anyone can push their beliefs on anyone, that means literally anything.
-
True. So what's your solution?
-
I'm pretty sure the vast majority of people don't like others telling them how to live their lives.
-
So again, you don't think people should be able to push their beliefs on others?
-
Absolutely. When it comes down to it, who is one human to tell another human how they should live their life?
-
You just told me how to live mine.............
-
No, I didn't. Stop using circular logic, or leave.
-
Yes you did. You told me I shouldn't push my views on others. I disagree with you. You are pushing your view on me, it's simple.
-
Your definition of pushing views is incredibly skewed. I'm done with this conversation. Have a nice day.
-
How is it skewed? I'm being honest, I don't see how your not pushing your view on me. Please explain.
-
I hear things I don't agree with all the time. This doesn't mean that they're pushing their views on me. There's a difference between being exposed to one's idea and having it pushed on them. Exposure to an idea can just be something as simple as a post on a forum, or a broadcast on the radio, which are easily ignored. Pushing implies a force being applied. For example, the Westboro Baptist Church disturbing a funeral with their signs and chanting would be pushing their view. A gathering of a group of faithful individuals deciding to violate the Constitution by putting stickers in books that say that evolution should not be treated as scientific fact (which stems from their religious view) would be pushing beliefs.
-
Ok I see and understand what you are saying. But... It is impossible to go through life and not push your beliefs on others. Can't we just except that and discuss our beliefs instead of weather it is ethical to push your beliefs or not?
-
Pushing and exposing are two different things. It is not okay to explicitly tell another human being how to live.
-
That is your personal belief and I disagree with you.
-
Go ahead and disagree with me, then. That's what makes life interesting. But that does not mean I am pushing my beliefs on you.

Edited by walker__123: 1/27/2014 10:38:08 PMOk then my belief is I think America is evil and I want to blow it up (I don't believe this) how do you stop me? How do you have the right to stop me if you can't push your beliefs on me?
-
Inb4NSA If I were the US Government, I would say that the interests of the country outweigh the interests of one civilian. However, if it's how I react to your view, then believe that America is evil. Doesn't bother me. I will not stop you from believing that.
-
So you would not try to stop someone who thinks that way from killing another on a civilian level?
-
If another human life was concerned? Yes. I value human life over the beliefs of an individual any day.
-
Aren't you pushing that value belief on someone in that example?
-
Learn what it means to push beliefs before you attempt circular logic with me. No, I am not pushing beliefs because I am preventing the loss of human life as the result of one's beliefs.
