A tactical squad shooter is certainly ambitious, but to create a game of that scale you'd need a strong team to back you up. An easier project to start off with might be a choose your own adventure text based game set in Destiny's universe, flex some of that writing muscle and bring out the most flavor using what limited tools you have to work with.

Probably will use it to figure out hexmaps and nothing else. I also have no story writing skill whatsoever, so a text adventure would be a bad choice. Meh, I'll see what comes of it.
