So I'm sure most of you have seen the revealed Destiny controller layout by now. What do you guys think? I mean I'm 95% sure we'll be able to tweak it, but how comfortable do you think you'll be with the default?
Also do you think someone can be comfortable with a control scheme and still play badly with it?
It seems that most big shooters these days are adopting the "COD control scheme" or something close to it. They aren't all exactly the same, but they all use left trigger to zoom and most use the right stick to melee. Even Halo 4 has it as an option (named 'fishstick') I'm not complaining. I'm comfortable with it, and I think its a very fluid and practical layout, but I can't ignore the fact that I'm just not as good at COD as I was/am at Halo.
In Halo I use Bumper Jumper and my KDR varies between 1.4 and 1.7. I'm not the best but its decent. Now... My KDR in COD (Ghosts, specifically) ranges between 0.4 and 0.7. That is the opposite of decent. I'm... I friggen suck. But I still enjoy it.
Destiny's control scheme isn't the same as COD, in fact its something newish that I've never seen before, but it does zoom with the left trigger which I think is one of the most important aspects of a shooters button layout.
Am I (and others like me) going to suck at Destiny, or is skill more related to the flow and feel of a game than its control scheme?
Post Script: Can we talk about how radical it is that we'll be able to dance? And am I the only one who thinks that it being down on the d-pad is bungie telling us to "get down with our bad selves?"

I also feel like I do a lot better in Halo than in CoD, but I don't think it has anything to do with control scheme. It's more just the games themselves, it's just they require different mindsets and tactics. For instance, sometimes in CoD I keep charging towards someone who's shooting at me because I think I have a lot more health left then I do. ADS is also another difference in those games, I find myself a lot less accurate ADSing than in Halo. Personally I don't like Destiny's control scheme, I'm more used to Halos default controls, so I'd like something like Halo 4's recon or Halo 3's default.

Adapting to controls has always been apart of gaming.
-
I think the best solution is just to let players choose their own buttons.
-
I wish we had rebindable controls on consoles. I mean, come on.
-
If you can change the controls, I hope it's like Valve games where you can change any button to anything

No bumper jumper no buy. Not like i was getting lolDensity anyway

I'm going to die if they don't have bumper jumper. I really don't like it when you have a "Push A to jump" style layout, but we will see how it compliments the game I guess. Current 3.3KD in Halo, all on bumper jumper.

CoD's default scheme is pretty good; it seems to be turning into the standard shooter setup. For the most part I would say controller setup is all preference, though some may have advantages over others. Bumper Jumper gives better aim functionality, for example. I use Recon because of Halo 3 default.

2.0 halo kid an cod kid master. Its alroght but I would move crouch to slide on roght thumbstick. Melee to where it is. Sprint on left thimbstick and its perfect at least competetively.
