Shadow of the Colossus

I had a pop on the Team Ico Collection HD earlier today, for the first time in maybe a year, I don't know. I started on Ico, because it apparently precedes Shadow, before getting stuck very early. I've got further on my brother's old PS3, but that broke. So yeah. Instead of bashing my head against a brick wall, I figured I should give Shadow a look. Wow. I'm not sure I like the narrative style more; it's much more exposition-heavy and explicit, rather than Ico's implied mystery. But it's a good story, well told. The graphics are much better, but the controls are probably worse. But dem colossi. Holy shit. Though I think puzzle-solving and platform should be the bulk of the game, rather than fighting the beasts (I've slain two), it's still an incredible experience to bring one down. This game is as aesthetically masterful as everyone says it is, and I can't wait to get further into it and see the glorious creations of Team Ico and their elegant, powerful titans.

SoTC is one of my top 10 favorite games. It just looks so gorgeous and the scale of the colossi is insane. Controls are a little wonkier than I remember but it's still really fun.
