The Bullshit. I'm utterly sick of it.

People complaining about the NSA spying on people and Snowden: That's their job. They spy on people. The only "shocking" news is that they've been spying on American people also. Why is Snowden considered a hero for leaking things like: "NSA spying on other nations" when that's what they're supposed to be doing? We wouldn't get mad if they were spying on Iran, but we'd lose our shit if they spy on Germany?! I get it you're mad, people can blackmail you now because of your porn choices...surely you jest. Syria: It's utterly horrifying that we stopped covering Syria the moment Assad gave up his chemical weapons. We thought is was a "victory". He'll just continue bombing his people with other kinds of bombs. The people there are suffering from POLIO! I thought that shit was a thing in the '80s! Now nobody is going to accept refugees because every moron who listened to Jenny McArthy are going to -blam!-ing die lol. Corporations Ruling America and War: America has always been about the money. Why did we rebel and fight the British? Taxation with out representation. When did the British actually get mad at us? When we -blam!-ed with their cashcrop, tea. We always sold weapons to both sides in every -blam!-ing war until somebody turned a gun our direction. Japan got mad that we kept -blam!-ing with their trading system during the war, so they wrecked Pearl Harbor; Pearl Harbor was an act of retaliation. Then we liberated the Jews, not the gays, from the concentration camps because something something...assets something something...they're the ones with the wealth. There's money and assets to be gained through war! I bet you, the next time we fight a war it will have to do with Iran/Saudi Arabia screwing with our oil imports. Not helping out the people in Africa: Why aren't we helping out the people of Africa? Because the truth is society there is too unstable and under educated to be able to help them. If we give them supplies, the people have to pay the officials bribe money to receive them. The problem is we sold them guns before we gave them proper medical care. We have to let them sort it out on their own because every charity that is collecting money is obviously doing nothing but scamming the sympathetic 1st world citizens...which brings me to my next point... Charities legally able to to keep 99% Why is it that the CEO of the Goodwill make 2 million a year?! Why is it that the CEO of the American Red Cross make a million bucks a year? Why is a charity...profitable? The bullshit is stinking up the place... College and it's "Importance": This deserves it's own thread but hey...I'm on a roll why stop now? College has lost it's initial vision. It's now a buffer to keep the impoverished poor, the rich in their upper echelons, and middle class to continuously struggle while paying for the poor and being used as the fuel to keep the rich on their thrones. The only way to make it to the top is getting through this barrier. Why is it that a student who has taken half of his engineering courses, and flunks out because of a thermodynamics class considered useless in the workforce? He didn't get his degree, so now he's only allowed to get a job any high school grad could've gotten? -blam!- that. I guess I'm gonna have to go 5 figures into debt or invent the next best thing before I can be anybody! (brb inventing the next social media) All the while the CEO's son inherits a position into his mom or pop's company and learns how to do his job based on the lessons his parents teach him! The way it used to be. If you wanted to work somewhere a company would train their employees to do a job, now we must train ourselves with our own money so we can do work for somebody else to profit off of. What a world we live in. At least the serfs, knights, and blacksmiths would sponsor their training before the King profited off you! Now the banks make a killing off of you whether you get a degree or not! tl;dr:
~NSA is doing their job, snowden isn't a hero. blame Obama...and Reagan (seriously google it) ~Syria is lost, and nobody gives a shit. We'll start "caring" once a Syrian "terrorist" seeks vengeance. ~Corporations/Money ruling America has been our priority since the founding of the country. Stop acting surprised. We start wars only for economical reasons. ~Africa has to sort it's own shit out, stop making it seem like everybody elses problem. ~Charities shouldn't be profitable, I mean it's common sense right?! ~College is just money making scheme for banks.
And no I'm not trolling, I'll discuss my points with you if you'd like.

Failing out of a 4-year engineering program isn't the end of the world. If the student wants to continue his education, he should enroll in a community college or vocational program, where he will be able to earn a degree and/or certification. That will put him far ahead of a high-schooler. With so many engineering classes finished already, the student will be able to jump into any related program very easily. He should also be aware that community colleges sometimes offer programs that are created in partnership with local businesses-- with the intention of hiring the student when he has earned the degree. If he wants to try a university education again, earning an AA will help. The student should find out about articulation agreements between community colleges and universities, where AA holders are guaranteed admission. Either way, they will be considered at much higher priority. In the meantime, the student should be looking to earn money. Finding a job, offering his skills, or learning new skills. An engineering student can make money by tutoring kids in math and physics, as well as SAT/ACT prep in math. He can also get creative: a lot of people get annoyed by setting up big-box items, need help moving, or just have lawns that need mowing. And he can try to learn something like Wordpress development, and create new/better sites for local businesses, with SEO and all that.

Shocker to you OP: With the revelation of an intricate surveillance network across Europe established with the collaboration of the NSA, GCHQ, and German/French/Swedish intelligence agencies amongst others collecting data on their respective citizens; it's become evident that this isn't a matter of foreign policy; it's not an 'us against them' situation. Surveillance conducted on that scale, with that level of collaboration between the US and Europe is not beneficial to the people. Countries are collecting extraordinary, indefensible amounts of data on their own citizens and political parties. Towards what end? I'll let you think that through yourself. We just have to trust that these mass surveillance systems are being used by people with pure hearts and noble intentions. People like the politicians who run the government who have access to this data, who's only interest is our wellbeing and safety.

    • I agree on the college part. It seems companies don't want to invest time and money into training there employees. If you don't have a piece of paper saying you know how to do something, you're pretty much useless to the world these days.

    • I highly agree with your points about college. Freaking waste of time and money. I wont learn anything. Cant I just start my job now? Most of the experience you get for your job you get on the job! And you are absolutely right about banks and bigger corporations using and abusing it.

      • Charities have to compete for talent like a business. Can you run a multi-billion dollar charity with the tens of thousands of employees and volunteers? It's a full time job. You can't run the Red Cross and manage another company. If they weren't paid competitively, no one capable of doing the job would do it.
That's their job.
That logic is so terrible that I'm going to horribly abuse/apply it to everything else in this thread. It's Assad's job to kill his people, don't get all up in his grill for that. It's the job of corporations to control America. Get over it. It's the job of hunger and war and disease to kill people in Africa for no good reason. Let them be at work! Charities are companies too. It's their job to make money! It's the job of college to be exclusive. Geez. (On a serious note, college has always been this way for the last 1,000 years. It's nothing new. Inheriting crap has also been the norm since Sumer. There was never a "way it used to be.")

Every first-world country does the same sort of crap. The United States just has a good location in which to do it in. Everybody's the same, usually. Don't try to make it out like they aren't, like someone is better. That's called being a discriminatory asshole, and I would rather everyone simply stay as indifferent assholes, like they are normally.

I agree with most of your points, just one or two I'd like to discuss. With Syria, Assad might be a butcher but compared to the alternative which is basically another Iraq/Afghanistan run by radical islamists* he doesn't seem too bad. The Syrian Regime needs to be brought back into line preferably by the Arab League rather than another western intervention war, but killing assad will make things worse. *I actually am quite sympathetic/supportive of many 'extreme' aspects of islam, obviously not terrorism and shooting girls for going to school but things like burning drug fields and banning alcohol are good things in my book. Africa does need to sort itself out, in the same way that europe had to during our dark ages. That doesn't mean we can't give lots of aid both military and humanitarian to the few countries that have got their shit together (mostly) These countries will act as a stabilising influence on the rest of the region around them and eventually Africa will be less of a feudal warlord cluster-blam!- and more of a civilised place to live.

                  - The Nazis were doing their job too. - The Syrian rebels are just as bad as, if not worse than, Assad. - Nobody's acting surprised. People are just pissed that their governments are ruled by private interests. - Africa has to sort its own shit out? Lelno. The most effective way of creating a stimulated and functioning world economy is to reduce child mortality levels. Aid is one of the best things a State could do. - Charities should not be profitable; correct. - I decline to comment.

They could never keep it a secret forever, and now they are private encryption agencies creating software specifically designed to keep the NSA out. This makes it impossible for them to spy on anybody who has this software; i.e. a potential threat. There is a limit to the nature of spying that you can do. Saying that the NSA's job is to spy is an utterly irrelevant comment that literally has no limits, when you are trying to justify "security".
