The power to edit posts

What are your thoughts about the Ninjas having the power to edit your posts/tags? Bungie have given us powerful tools to make our bungie.net experience our own. While I understand why Ninjas should have the power to alter posts, but isn't that defeating the purpose of empowering the user when a post is edited by a Ninja/Employee? If they have the power to alter posts, can we the public at least be given an explanation as to why the post was edited? Say I click on the edited by link, could we be given the reason in a popup of some type? Not only would this feature feed my insatiable curiosity, but also give other users an opportunity to learn from others mistakes. I support the Ninjas and their contributions to this site, but I don't want to see bungie.net take two steps forward just to take one step back.
