New York in 'largest-ever guns bust' - gun control works

So I was right, guns get taken to states from lax gun laws to those with strict ones so the criminals can take advantage which makes the state with tight gun control laws look worse off.
I wonder how many people are going to start comparing the states of Carolina and New York to try and prove me wrong about New York having a higher murder rate.

No paul, this just proves it doesnt work, if they were illegal to carry everywhere, criminals would just get them from outside the US. Try thinking before posting.

I'm all for getting illegally trafficked guns off the streets, but that's not gun control, that's called law enforcement.

I'll never understand why some people in some part of a country think they know what's best for people in another part, or even believe that their own ideas should be forced onto others. Also, it's almost like people don't realize that borders between countries and borders between states have no [i]practical[/i] difference. If there's a demand and a potential for profit, people will find a way, legality insignificant.

So why do criminals not commit as many crimes in these "Lax states".. Because they are scared of Law, abiding citizens. You do this to the whole country.. you just watch.. this nation will become a warzone between powerful gangs and police forces. They'll get their guns from Mexico or Cuba by some crazy, unknown means. Or hell.. maybe even Canada?

The guns are being transported from a place where everyone can own a gun to a place where no one can. Now imagine if New York laxed it's restrictions, and NYC allowed people to actually carry in the city. Do you think crime would be as high? The dirt bags who were caught already showed that they want to prey on easy victims, so what if they have to worry about being shot by their victim? Do you think they'd be as brazen?

See now, Pennsylvania has a good gun control system that works without restricting too much of the law abiding man's personal freedoms. Our reps have been trying to get it to go national, but since we can't fix our roads or pass budgets on time nobody takes our ideas seriously.

Gun control would work BETTER if it applied to the entire country. Unfortunately, it seems half the people in charge are rednecks who think that any sort of gun control at all is 'STEALING OUR FREEDUM!'

31 RepliesBad guys get guns, and good guys can't get any. Thus, murder rate is high. You cant even own a taser in NY, or even mace. You can only own pepper spray, which is a -blam!-ing TOY compared to mace.

The police can only have seven rounds in the magazines in that state. The crime rate is ridiculous, and no one can defend themselves because of regulation. A gun bust won't change any of its other bad policies.

[/quote] That's the thing though. Why do states with less gun control, like Texas, have a lower murder rate than states, like New York, that have more gun-control? Because places like New York and California make it difficult for law-abiding citizens to own a gun to which the common criminal understands such and allows them to commit a reign of terror on people that can't stop them then and there. Now, why would a person attempt to rob a bank or hold somebody at gunpoint in Texas? Answer is they won't out of the increased probability of a citizen carrying a firearm.

7 RepliesPolice have no duty to protect you. That's right, the police do not have any obligation to protect you from being -blam!- or murdered. So, if you don't think an individual should be able to protect themselves, and the police don't have to, who will?
