He's assuming babies have not sinned, but forgot that in Christianity, we are all born as sinners. You have to work to get into Heaven, and a Christian who kills their child not only damns themselves to Hell, but also their kid.

Interesting. You'd think the idea of Original Sin and the idea of "sinners don't go to heaven" wouldn't be compatible...

*sigh*
Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14 NIV
Wrong all children go to heaven until the age of accountability. Which is puberty.

Edited by die wily: 8/14/2013 3:08:19 AMReally? Then I'm never raising kids in a Christian area.
There's a doctrine about accountability, and the general consensus among clergy is that kids are exempt from hell.
You don't have to work to get into heaven. Just saying.
-
You do have to accept Jesus, and thus you do have to make active effort, right?
-
When you accept him, it's more of a desire that comes with it. You start to want to know him more and live a life that is honoring to him and his sacrifice. I hate it when people turn it into work and rules.. So dumb.
-
You forgot to address the fact that children shouldn't morally go the hell due to the parents decision to murder them through clear insanity. That's punishing a kid when it's not its fault that it's been born into sin and disallowed a way out. Therefore either hell is inevitable and Christianity is a cruel religion or they are predestined to go to heaven. If they are predestined to go to hell for what they may do in the future then that's not fair because they're still just a kid and haven't done anything wrong yet so it's still immoral. That would mean that, either way, Christianity is bad.

What a grand deity you worship, one who assigns guilt on the newly born for disobedience hundreds of thousands of years ago.
-
I am not a Christian.
-
Alright, then why not kill your children while they're praying? Or immediately after they've said "Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior and through Him I am cleansed," or what have you?
-
Because by the time they can talk, they've probably already sinned by pooping on your furniture at some point and then laughing about it.
-
Erm, you didn't answer me.
-
You have two options: 1) Help your child into heaven by raising him well and guiding him, and then you both get into heaven. 2) Kill your child after they pray, guaranteeing him into heaven and you into hell.
-
2. is clearly the more charitable one, though, as it minimizes the risk for the child. You can take a gamble with 1 and hope everyone makes it, but then you're not doing everything you can to protect your child.
-
Ever heard of overprotection? It's whereby you wrap your kid up in bubble wrap everytime they go skateboarding for fear of splattering their brains everywhere; you gotta let your kid live a little even at severe risk of eternal damnation after death or dying from falling off a tree and landing headfirst on concrete.
you gotta let your kid live a little even at severe risk of eternal damnation after death or dying from falling off a tree and landing headfirst on concrete.
Were you being sarcastic / facetious? Because that actually made me smirk. On the off chance you aren't, we aren't talking about *death*, here. We're talking about being tortured eternally with no way out. Your child is *going to die*, but he doesn't have to suffer forever.
-
Sure he does. As long as he enjoys himself whilst he's alive. Like I already said letting something bad happen isn't as bad as doing something bad.
-
I think if relinquishing yourself of sin is as easy as a prayer, then the first one has pretty good odds of everyone making it, no?

Edited by die wily: 8/14/2013 2:18:10 AMI'm not sure if murder can be forgiven (I wouldn't think it would be, but IDFK), but it seems like nearly all kids would have *far* less to be forgiven for than murder. And no, option 2 is clearly still better, as it's a guarantee of no-eternal-torture, and it's absolutely-positively better if murder can be forgiven.
