Any Reason Not To Troll?

Please, Bungie/Mods, just start banning people that make troll topics. You want us to regulate the forums ourselves with mutes/reporting, but that obviously has not worked. Yes, muting makes it so that we cannot see the posts, but they are still there. If a new person came onto the forum and saw the Destiny thread right now, they would leave instantly with a bad image of Bungie in their head. The punishment for trolling is not enough, you need to start taking action yourselves.

  • Trolling isn't against rules (as long as it DOESN't break any), so you can't be banned from trolling.

  • Ever heard of the freedom of speech. People can use their brain, if they have one, to sort out the bad threads from the good ones.

  • I have an idea to get people to stop trolling - charge say 50 pence for a first time sign up and implement for all users. 50% of trolling goes down.

  • You don't even have to try while trolling anywhere, it's sad really. The art is lost.

  • Ahh. I miss these threads. Mods don't do enough or mods do too much. Glad I don't have to deal with them anymore. Trust me it is much better now. People just need to use the tools given to them and the problem disappears. The real issue is not the mods enforcing enough it is all of us being too damn lazy to fix the problem ourselves. We have the tools but apparently not the talent to go along with it.

    • If enough people mute/report a post it hides it from other viewers, that's a decent system.

      • The new moderation is ten times better then the previous one. The only issue is the people that are too stubborn to use the moderation tools.

      • Trolls are fun. The forum would be totally bland without the occasional troll.

      • I'm beginning to think that you should see how many mutes you received on a post. Maybe a stat showing your true audience compared to how many do not see your posts could be a incentive to curtail troll lights. Let the pie chart of mute ring forth.
Any Reason Not To Troll?
Loss of audience? Someone can choose to be obnoxious, and if I personally decide that they offer nothing of value (to me), when they actually DO make a topic or reply that is relevant or interesting, I (and anyone who's decided that they are "noise-makers") are not going to see or participate in their "good postings". So if someone wants to make noise? Go ahead. I am not obligated to listen. And when they finally have something to say that is worth replying to? They're not going to get any assistance, input, or response from me or anyone else who's decided that they are "more noise than signal".

          • What us a ban other than a mute that you have to wait for me to push the button?

I would like to see some rules unforced, but banning wont happen because there's this notion that muting is effective, regardless of the communities opinion and the fact that a lot of this website is infested with troll topics, which is unfortunate. And I agree, it does make bungie look bad when you see some of the content that was posted here. This is the only forum I've been a part of that has this "moderators are judges" policy. Granted I do like to have control over what I see, it is pretty clear there isn't a deterrent for trolling. You have to keep muting and hiding certain things, but the next day you log on, the same content is there. New troll thread after new troll thread. All I can say is you better start clicking that mute and hide button more often, because I doubt there will be any significant changes.
