Playing Demon's Souls.

On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the highest. How royally screwed am I? Also taking bets to see how far I get before I ragequit.

  • So I decided to pick up the game again after nearly beating Dark Souls. I wanted to try DeS out again. It's actually kind of fun now that I know what I'm doing. I'm in world 2-2 running around with a claymore but it's not doing as much damage as I'd want it to. I still prefer Dark Souls though. I don't like games with hub worlds I like free roaming.

  • 17, I don't understand why people like that game. I'm just not into those kinds of games at all. I literally opened up a new world and quit.

    • Never played demon souls but dark souls was super fun even though it's a little bit hard. My best advice if you're getting frustrated put the controller down for a bit and just come back later.

    • Demon's Souls is actually hard. By that I mean, I only really find the minor platforming hard in Dark Souls such as Sen's Fortress and navigating that invisible bridge if you don't know about it when pursuing Seath. Dark Souls is hard, but once you know the strategies, and you have a play-style that you're good at (Magic/Swift Pikesman) then you are mostly fine and you shouldn't die thousands of times, let alone more than a 100 or so. Demon's Souls is vicious though and the last boss which inspires a few bosses in Dark Souls is a pain in my opinion. >_> so much hate.

I rage quit in the tutorial from the clunky controls and stupid "checkpoints" Edit, thought this was about Dark Souls.

        • I'm glad you're resigned to your fate. I'm going to go with a solid 8.5 since I have no knowledge of your gaming prowess. In terms of the bet. I give you up until 2-1 when you have to face the boss. If you don't summon help/look up strategies you will get absolutely obliterated repeatedly until you just naturally exist in the fetal position. I have watched many men be reduced into a bizarre mix of hysteria, anger, fear, and confusion due to this game. All that said, it's a great game and you should play it! :D

        • I found Demon's Souls to be easier than Dark Souls, as the stages are easier to complete and you can more-or-less actually kill every single boss without having to summon assistance. However, watch out as there are no bonfires in Demon's Souls, and you'll respawn at the beginning of the stage if you die, so find as many shortcuts as you can.

        • It's not as difficult as people make it out to be. It's just a combination of the fact that the game gives you very little advice on what your objectives are and there's a significant penalty for death that frustrate newcomers.

        • 10. It's an incredibly tough and frustrating game. It took me for-freaking-ever to get through it. And yes, you will rage quit. I rage quit it a few times. Everybody who has played it has. It, to me at least, feels like a real throwback to old school game that did not let you save whenever you wanted, did not coddle you, and if you died, you had to start all over from the beginning. Thus, the frustration.
