Sad bungie day ... appears bungie has left the fallen soldier behind :( Didn't think the playlist opportunity was great last year ... this year we have a "week" to enjoy a zero playlist ?!?

 • Merry Bungie Day!!! It sounds weird but it's less cliché than Happy Bungie Day.

 • But is it anything more than shallow marketing ... when they had a game to push it was all about "a celebration with fans through playing the game we love" but now it has moved to a whole week without even a mention of joining the fans in "our" game :(

 • Uhm why would they play Halo with us? It's 343s game now. At least they're doing something for us, I don't see any other company who is cooling enough to do something like this.

 • Always was Microsoft's games ... bungie sold that bundle to Microsoft 13 years back. What happened to the promise ... or does that simply end once they stop getting $$ ? The dirst bungie day ... 7/7/2007 ... was about celebrating all things halo with the fans, Halo has not gone. Ok, fine, if bungie just want to pretend the promise never happened then at least rename the "Day" fully ... not just some shallow "bungie week" ... they should be honest and stand up to be counted and stop trying to cash in all the time. Is it not enough that they are rewarding the Playstation "new audience" over the original xbox base?

 • Uh... "Bungie Day" isn't about Halo. It's about the bungie community. Halo isn't their game.

 • Halo will always be their game. Sure Microsoft own it ... but they always did ... nothings changed. There is noting stopping bungie going online right now and playing a 24 hours of solid Reach games with their fans ... nothing ... other than actually wanting to live up to a promise. Anything else only translates into "screw the fans, there is no money in it for us now"

 • Except for the fact that it's actually NOT their game. They sold ALL rights to the Halo franchise to 343.

 • Wrong ... they sold it to Microsoft back in 2000 (and for a nice bundle). The "bungie day" idea kicked off in 7/7/2007 - still owned by Microsoft, but bungie was getting some $$ for their efforts. In typical bungie style they claimed it was "all about the fans" but it looks like it was more "all about the fans paying some hard cash". There is NOTHING stopping bungie loading up a few Reach disks and playing some matches - even just 1 days worth - in honor of the fans ... NOTHING.

 • Perhaps if more people supported the call ... like I said there is nothing stopping them presenting a 24 hour event ... all they need is a few xbl gold accounts.

 • It turns out 343i only manages the Halo franchise. Thank you for correcting me friend. Saves me from looking like an idiot!

 • Seeing as they are over Halo and beginning a new era of Destiny, do you really think they need to go on Halo and play online? Seeing as the number of ppl playing any of their halo games online has dropped, do you think that's really worth the time now anyways? I'm sure they have lots of work to do on Destiny, and they have been there for their fans all week. Stop trolling just because they haven't taken the time to play Halo online with you.

 •
really worth the time now anyways
are the fans worth just 1 days effort, even if only with 4 staffers (was that the "effort" last year?) ... obviously NOT to bungie ... screw the lol-fans.
number of ppl playing any of their halo games online has dropped
Honestly ... so the "fans" are only to be counted when the games are in the top 10 playlist ?!? So what happens now ... bungie dont even have a current game out there ... should they now move into a "screw the fanbase" mode (mind you, given the attention Playstation is getting over xbox ... maybe thats true). What I am hearing is that bungie only think its worth the effort when there is a chance to sell ... nothing to do with respect of "fans", sure the term is actually "customers". Just be nice if they where honest about it.

 • So you think that having a Bungie week where they take the time to have contests, share things with you like wallpapers, avatars etc. gives off a "screw you vibe"? I'd love to know what you would think of Christmas where you get presents....are you ungrateful to your parents and say "you giving me stuff feels like a screw you vibe"? I'd love for you to mention any other studio that takes their time to celebrate with their fan base every year by doing this kind of thing. Not trying to be a dick to you, but please.....them not going online to play Halo with you isn't the end of the world.

 •
what you would think of Christmas where you get presents....are you ungrateful to your parents
Let me ask you ... if your parents made you a promise to spend time with you doing your favorite thing in the world ... and they gave THAT one day a year a special name (christmas, bungie day, whatever day) ... and you waited all year for that one day of shared time not caring for a financial gift, but time ... And when that day rolled around you got a POSTER ... how does that compare?!? "ungrateful" that my parents try to buy me off with a paper poster or avatar? "ungrateful" that they withdrew from their promise because they need to spend time at the "office" ... thankfully my parent never did that, neither have my friends, neither would I.
them not going online to play Halo with you isn't the end of the world
True, but to then come out and rave on about "bungie week" like they are doing us some huge favor ... and yet not live up to the origins of "bungie day" ... the shear cash milking nature of it is just so far off. (And they cant blame Microsoft this time around)

 • I don't recall them promising to play Halo with their fans every single Bungie Day for the rest of the company's existence. Just because they played halo every past Bungie day doesn't mean you should assume it will happen every year. Especially now that Halo is behind them while Destiny is their future franchise. I'm sure they are too busy this year because their game deadline is just around the corner.

 • Will give them the wriggle room in that it was not explicitly Halo ... next year Destiny can be the go, but for the moment that game is not released. Same story when Reach was being written, they play the current title. As for "deadline is just around the corner", again that has always been the case. Plus it is bungie day, the ONE day of the year ... it would be like your parents/friend say they are not doing Christmas this year because they have to go into the office ... and we are not talking the entire staff of bungie here, only a very small number of people. Be honest ... they dont want to. It wasnever about the fans, it was bungie marketing. And this time it is 100% down to them.

 • Well, I suppose considering that this week has been a fail for excitement, I suppose they could at least have played with people. I don't see why people were hyping it up so much when the amount of things they did could have been fit into one day. That interview was really lame too. It was great that Jones did the interview, but the person interviewing asked the most idiotic questions. Halo CE and Halo2 are far in the past......ask something that is relevant within this decade.

 • Good on you ... sounds like your quoting the bungie company line now - lol It is sad to see you go though ... after all you have brought to the argument.
