to quote Han Solo ; Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side kid ...
In the context of the Star Wars series, I think Han would say he got that one wrong...
-
Except Space Magic can make you explode or burst into flames, as well as augment that "blast at your side" to shoot rounds that make people catch on fire. So that doesn't really make sense.
-
it was warning to not over rely on the force , or space magic in this case . and now to another pop culture reference ; there are three things you should never mention in public Charlie brown , religion , politics , and the great pumpkin .
-
Except, again, that doesn't make sense because in this universe there is clear evidence of the supernatural.
-
and then you'll tell me the moon landing was faked .....
-
"This universe" = the Destiny one.
-
its based loosely around our solar system , that's it , they aren't the same ...
-
I know. I'm saying in the universe that Destiny is in, in that reality, they now have evidence of the supernatural. There is Space Magic. It's clear, it's present, and it's undeniable.

its just called space magic by the bungie faithful , its often been said that Technology so significantly advanced from anything is often indistinguishable from magic . that is the way the marvel flim universe approaches mythical characters like thor and loki , and it is likely the same path that bungie will take us on with regards to the traveler and the powers it bestows on the guardians .
-
That's not something that Bungie fans have said exclusively...? And regardless of that your point is moot as we'd have no way of telling how this actually works and would therefore still be seen as magic by some. None of the points you're making offer a counterpoint to why Religion should not be present in Destiny.
-
Magic is merely unexplained science (or misdirection). We use "supernatural" and "religion" tags until we understand. Much like real life.
-
Ummm... What? You're saying I can't make a universe in a story that has magic, straight-up magic? You're going to tell me that that magic is illegitimate? That I'm wrong about my own universe? You can't throw a blanket statement around like that when talking about a totally different universe.
-
I'm not saying that at all. You can do what you like. However, magic does not have to possess supernatural powers just as religion doesn't necessarily have to include a super being at its core. It's a belief system of like-minded individuals. I'm fine with religion being in the game. It adds drama. Just as long as the search for its meaning doesn't result in a patronizing and unsatisfying answer. But I have "faith"in Bungie (oh, I kill me…) to not take that route. They've already proved it with Halo.
-
Okay. Sorry about that I suppose it was a misunderstanding of your post on my part.
-
No worries. :)

That's what he's saying.
