No, this isn't a serious or impeding sentiment to me purchasing or thoroughly enjoying Battlefield 4.
Being Chinese-American, I simply produce raised eyebrows towards this. Perhaps now I know what some people of Russian descent feel towards every mindless CoD campaign.
But really. Are these game storylines all we can come up with? Chinese game developers usually cast us as the villains, so is this all game developers come up with for a storyline? All based on current events and politics?
And once again, this detail about the game won't really affect any sort judgement from me, but I guess it helps me see how people who share the same ethnicity of a villain might have objection to, or frown towards.
But. Well. I am seriously anticipating this game because of its graphic, engine and destructibility.
Edit;
Clearly there is still confusion, however I suppose it is understandable. Let's make this clear one more time.
This isn't very important to me. I'm still going to enjoy the game because it is an amazing game, however I do have a perspective on this.
Some of you may not be the highest scorers in the SAT reading section, so I can understand some misinterpretation, but after this added section any misunderstanding is ridiculous and is clearly your problem.

Play the flashpoint series, If you dont enjoy fighting chinese in battlefield these games will turn you around.

Thanks, but I made it clear my exact problem wasn't fighting the Chinese.
-
I want a game where we fight Americans.
-
Nice change from fighting russians all the time.
-
I think there is USA, Russia and china
-
I was kinda sad when I had to kill Welsh in Red Dead Redemption...
-
China was always part of the conflicting teams in the BF series if i remember they were in BF2 ages ago
-
There's a Chinese video game called Peoples Army. The Chinese Government uses it to help assist in military training. The antagonists in that game are Americans. I'm not phased by it at all. War with China is hilariously unlikely, so I'd just blow it off as being Realistic Fiction.
-
As someone of German descent, I never felt anything wrong with the WWII era of videogames. Nor did I feel any different while killing Americans in Spec Ops: The Line. The fact that it isn't real should be what keeps you from feeling like this. You may say it isn't that big of a deal, but it's clearly important to you in some regard if you made a thread on it speaking your mind. Otherwise, why bother?
-
Well, while they could find a more "local" enemy, it would be much harder to justify a battlefield in that case.
-
you never played BF2, did you?
-
It's got to be someone vs someone. Though they really should make the US evil. Would be hilarious.
-
If you can find a game where you play as an Iraqi Soldier fighting America, you will have found your answer. That game doesn't exist, for the same reason you will fight China in BF4.
-
They need enemies. Large ground forces... What if scenarios.. Like Russia, China.
-
This is part of why I like SciFi games.
-
So OP is scared by fiction. Rofl No one even pays attention to BF's campaign anyways.
-
Another reason I don't like CoD. And its fanbase.
-
With the possibility of WWIII happening very soon and China not telling who they would side with, I find this to be very scary.
-
I find it to be fitting, since the most devastating war, in our generation, would be China vs the USA, IMO.
-
Well its better than your generic "lets fight the Russians" campaign. It is very possible that we will be fighting a war with the Chinese in the next great war. However, I do feel for you because I did shed a few tears when I had to kill my German brothers in Wolfenstein.
-
Hey yo now you know how Italian Americans feel always being mob enforcers or worse Jersey shore kids. Being the super villain army of doom seems a better wrap.
-
Im honored you edited a 3 month old thread to mention me but it was kind of a half ass post that wasn't really meant to be taken seriously, and it merely only points out that games even before BF4 have done this. If your Chinese, North Korean, Russian or a Haji, your probably an enemy in some game or movie. Just a btw I probably put the post after playing the game and killing hundreds of Chinese then to come here and see someone complaining about BF4 featuring the Chinese as an enemy. Didn't mean to rustle your jimmies and I did fairly well on the SAT.
-
Hey, at least it's not Russia or N@Zis for the 600th time...
-
Play the flashpoint series, If you dont enjoy fighting chinese in battlefield these games will turn you around.

Pow ding
-
Who cares?!
-
I don't care if we fight little Africans kids as long as its fun.

Edited by Kafuu Chino: 9/21/2013 9:29:28 PMIt's going to be a three-way conflict. A Chinese Admiral, Chang, plans to overthrow the current Chinese government; if he is successful, he will have full support from the Russians. The U.S. has been implicated in the assassination of Jin Jié, China's "future leader and voice of peace." In response to the assassination, Chang has taken this opportunity to cancel elections for a new leader and declares martial law. If the U.S. government/military was involved in the assassination for whatever reason, then that is obviously going to get some response from China. I dunno why China and Russia are going at it (most likely will be explained in campaign) since Russia is backing Chang, but the multiplayer shows them engaging one another. China doesn't seem to be portrayed as the villain. They just seem to be stuck in-between the Russian and US conflict. And don't forget, you can play as China and mow down US and Russia as you see fit ;) EDIT: Oh shit, this an old thread...
