Internet Sales Tax

Up for vote in 'Murica today. What do you think of sales tax on the web? Yet another nail in the coffin of the middle class consumer? Or justified tax law that helps brick and mortar businesses compete with online companies?

 • It happened in America because the liberal commie democrats and the pussy republicans spent so much money in the last 13 years ($17 Trillion to be exact) that, the only way they can get more money to waste is to apply another tax. That's how big gub'a'ment works. They screw you with the taxes then they screw you with the debt.

 • Well, it was bound to happen. Gonna suck for Canadians buying stuff online, shipping it to the border, then driving to the US side and picking it up. Now we'll have to pay US tax and Duty.

 • I don't know why they just don't enforce the tax of where you are shipping to. Its not that hard. Sure, online retailers would be responsible for keeping track, and paying the right states, but its not like we don't have computers to keep track of these things.
Or justified tax law that helps brick and mortar businesses compete with online companies?
And it's also required by law that people who buy things online report it to the government so that it can be appropriately taxed. And since it'll be a cold day in hell when that happens, the only realistic option is to require businesses to take it out at time of sale and send it to the government.
